Guest guest
I bought a water dispenser this weekend and am sorely disappointed. I buy Mountain Valley Spring bottled water in 5-gallon glass bottles from Whole Foods. I poured some water straight from the 5-gallon glass bottle into a glass and it tasted great. From the moment I put it in the Royal Sovereign brand Hot & Cold water dispenser, it tasted completely different. The plastic gave it a strong smokey/plastic taste. I researched online and found that this is a common experience with these kinds of water disoensers. I really would be completely happy with only room-temperature water. Do you all have any suggestions for water dispensers which would hold a 5-gallon glass bottle and completely preserve the taste of the water? Are there dispensers where the water only touches glazed clay, stainless steel or glass? I'm really a fish out of water (pardon the pun) in these matters. The only thing I know is the plastic taste must go. Oh and don't recommend I clean the plastic. I read many reviewers who were instructed by the manufacturer to run boiling water and vinegar to mute the plastic taste. In every case I read the reviewers said this only muted it for a few days and the taste came back same as before. Any help and experience would be appreciated :-) Tom P.S. I got my Non-secretor Wallet card today from Dr. D. It's a great little tool!
Guest guest
I ran a ph test on Mountain Valley, Whole Foods 365 brand Spring water, Britta filtered tap water, tap water, some local reverse osmosis water and San Pellegrino Sparkling Mineral Water and Gerolsteiners Sparkling Mineral Water. The most alkaline of the group was Gerolsteiners, then San Pellegrino and Mountain Valley Spring and Whole Foods 365 brand spring water. Surprisingly, the worst was the locally filtered reverse osmosis water which was fully acid. Tap water and Britta filtered water were both quite acid. I still buy Gerolsteiners and San Pellegrino for variety, but I'm excited about getting Mountain Valley Spring delivered. At the rate I drank this week I'd need six 5-gallon bottles per month! _____ From: THOMAS DEKANY [mailto:tdekany@...] Sent: Tuesday, November 30, 2004 10:27 PM Subject: RE: Ideas for better Water Dispenser Tom - While I haven't had it in years, Mountain Valley is my favorite water along with Trinity <<<<P.S. Guest guest
There are crock dispensers if you can find a supply for them. I used them and never had a problem.
