Flax seed oil question

Oh I agree with you. I've ranted and bitched on here about how nasty and evil

the taste of flax seed oil is. If you do the caps, make sure you take enough

of them to equal one tablespoon. If you don't know for sure, then squeeze a

bunch of caps into a tablespoon to see how many it takes, because they come

in different sizes.

I don't mind the taste. I have been known to mix it into a shake, soup,

chili, cottage cheese, tuna...

Flax seed oil question

Ok ladies,

I bought a bottle of flax seed oil last year when I first tried

BFL... now I just checked and the bottle is expired :( Any hoot,

here's my real question, how the heck do you take the stuff without

it making you gag? I never tried the first time, needless to say, I

threw away a brand new $7.50 bottle of flax seed oil. I get this

queezy feeling just thinking about sucking down a teaspoon of that

stuff. Do you all mix it into something? How bad does it really

taste? I'm going to buy another bottle tomorrow because I know I

need it, but for the love of all that's holy, I don't know how I'm

going to swallow the stuff.

FYI, protein shakes makes me gag too. What can I say, I'm a whole

foods kinda girl.

Thanks to any who take the time to comment!

Personally, I just take it straight from the spoon and yes, it is nasty

stuff. Some people mix it with balsamic vinegar for a salad dressing, but

to me that just ruins the whole salad. Some people put it in protein shakes

and swear they can't taste it at all. I haven't tried that. I take it like

a woman! Straight up, chased by water.

I either mix flax oil in a shake, or pour it under my tongue and gulp water. You

can also put it in a shot glass with a little grapefruit juice and slam it. You

don't taste it that way. Lots of people also put it on already cooked food like

rice, or make a salad dressing out of it with vinegar and spices.

It's NOT that bad. It tastes kind of good actually. Fresh flax oil has kind of a

summery, freshly-mowed grass quality about it. Like if you were to lick the

grass clippings off the lawn mower. ;-)

LOL! Nice image, . I'll remember that after cutting the lawn.

True, that is what fresh flax oil tastes like. And there's no after

taste.

I read this comment below on another health website and was curious to know if

the mixing of the flax oil into the quark changes it into the usable form which

has the EPA and DHA?

Flaxseed oil is not recommended because it contains alpha–linolenic acid (ALA).

ALA must be converted in the body to useable forms, which are EPA and DHA (found

in fish oils, and cod liver oil).

Mixing flax seed oil with quark or cottage cheese thoroughly makes it water soluble which

allows transport into cells. We mix it

up in advance and take it every morning with various other things.
