Guest guest
Hi Deb M. First off... I'm very VERY proud of you for going to the gym. Driving to the gym is the most difficult part of working out...yet the least physically demanding. Secondly... forget that trainer and trust yourself. (Also rely on your doctor's advice as well as a physical therapist's advice.) Keep up the desire to get to the gym. You'll be in to a routine after 1 week. I read somewhere it only takes 7 days to 'create' a habit. Good luck! xoxo's
Guest guest
Hi, Margaret! I'm probably not the best one to ask. I moved to Glendale (just west of Phoenix) a month ago, and mostly I like it. The desert is beautiful and people generally are nicer than in CA (where I'm from - lived all over CA). Housing is cheaper, but I haven't found anything else to be cheaper. Maybe I'm just a bargain hunter for everything so I don't see the difference and haven't found the bargains here yet? I'm really not a fan of heat, however, so I'm not happy about being indoors all the time. Also, lots of people don't drive the way I'm used to, so there's lots of brake lights for nothing, dodging more than in LA and SF even. But that's a little thing which irritates probably more than it should cuz it's too hot!!! Some of my friends love heat like this. And most folks here seem to take it in stride. I hear your blood thins out so it's not so bad. I think that's true, even in the month I've been here. Not sure that helps. But feel free to ask away! Guest guest
I differ a little here - I had my trainer talk to my physical therapist and i personally feel much safer working with someone who knows more than I do. (Not to mention that she can adjust the machines and I still cannot!) But keep in mind I'm almost 7 mo post revision. Pre revision i would have followed my instincts about what i could and could not do. i do think being in decent shape before surgery certainly helped my recovery. Guest guest
So I finally get a doctor to agree to do another thyroid test and was told that he would get the results as my crohn's consultant but that a copy would go to my GP. So I called the GP for the results and they did not have them so suggested I call my consultant's secretary. So I did that and was told that she was away for a week and that the 'letter hasn't been typed up yet' so they couldn't tell me anything. I'm not sure why a letter would have to be typed up for them to give me the results - I'm not even sure whether they knew where the results were. Well, I suppose I am only another number and of course they couldn't give a fig about how unwell I feel and my declining mental health (I'm just so tired of feeling sick and tired all the time that I feel like I'm bordering on depression). But despite having called back 3 times, I got nowhere. The secretary is supposedly back tomorrow so I will be trying again. I will not be at all surprised if I have to have the bloods done again - this has happened before as they 'stored the sample incorrectly' so I'm not holding out much hope that things will be any different this time. Sorry for the moan. I'm just feeling particularly cheesed off today! Thanks for letting me vent. a xxx
Guest guest
Vent away a - you are entitled on this forum. However, I wouldn't let it rest there. I would take this further and write to the Chief Executive of the hospital concerned and tell him exactly what has happened and how bad administration at his hospital has left your GP without a copy of the results for your Crohn's disease because the consultant's secretary had gone away on holiday. Surely,in such cases, they could hire a temp. to take over until people get back from holidays because the only person who suffers is the patient, and they are not supposed to cause suffering. Ask him to write back and let you know how he intends to stop this happening in the future. Guest guest
The annoying thing is that the Crohn's consultant doesn't even need the results as it was a thyroid and diabetes check and he only requested them to save me another trip to the GP! I'll see what today brings! a x > > > > > So I finally get a doctor to agree to do another thyroid test and was told > that he would get the results as my crohn's consultant but that a copy would > go to my GP.
