I'm thinking he might be AB as his mom (and MD) always was talking about universal donor/universal recipient, and saying one was him, but couldn't ever seem to remember which way it went (and which of her kids were what). I am O neg and I can;t tell you how often I am mistyped. I used to donate blood before mine became unacceptable and I often had to tell them to re-type.... for what it's worth. So if hubby is O neg - your test for your daughter is likely wrong - and I'd suggest getting her typed at a blood bank. I have not used the people test cards - I do use blood type kits for cats, and there is a LOT of technique involved in getting a good test result. The temperature matters, the drop size matters, timing matters, and the way you " rock " the sample matters. IT can go wrong very easily if your test system is anything like the feline one. I must have wasted a lot of money getting the technique right to make my home testing reliable on new kittens. I test because I am a breeder and it is essential to know if you have a type B or AB queen with type A kittens in cats (same problem as mismatched Rh factor in people, you get neonatal erythrolysis and the kittens die within 24 hrs). A, B and AB are the feline blood types and they are NOT like people A, B and AB at all. It should be P, Q, and R probably :-) Hope you solve your puzzle! Guest guest
So, my dh used my other test card tonight and types out as A-, not O-. That would certainly explain my dd being A+ (as I am O+). But he was so certain that he was O-. We will ask his mom to check his medical records to make sure. This sure throws me for a loop as I was sure all three of us were Os and only ds was the wildcard as we don't know his birthfather's blood type. Dh is excited to reclaim coffee and sour cream, is taking the loss of beef better than I thought he would, but we both realize how much this blood type diet has become part of our lives by how dazed we are by the whole thing. Anyone know a good source of meals that are A/O compatable? And ways to make soy/tofu taste like beef ? Marie
Guest guest
My mom and were both A+. I am O+. Why wouldn't two O adults produce an A child? Am I just not understanding this? It's not complicated but someone has the wrong type somewhere in the example that was on the list - probably form mistyping in a test, which happens more than one might expect. Two O adults can not produce an A. O represents " no antigen " as in zero = O Every person has two genes and a person with O blood has two O genes. So each parent of O type can ONLY give the kids an O gene. One comes from each parent at random. My dad was type A but had a type O parents - so his genes were O and A. physically he was type A - but genetically he had A and O. So HIS kids might get his O gene and might get his A gene. In fact I go his O and my brother got an A. My mother was O so had two O genes and we each got an O from her. So I have OO genes - type O blood with no antigens; and my brother has AO genes - type A blood with A antiogens. Someone with AB blood has AB genes (one of each) and has A and B antigens in the blood. So two parents with no genes for any antigen - type O - obviously can not have a child with antigen production of either A or B or AB as the parents did not have the genes to pass to any kids. The only way a child of two O parents can have A or B blood is if mamma was messing about with someone else.....as was my own mother-in-law, who produced one son who " arrived early " with all the " wrong " genes for blood type, brown eyes and brown curly hair included - all not possible from the supposed two tall with long straight blond hair and blue eyes type O parents. Boy did I put my foot in it when I assumed everyone else saw what was obvious and asked who his dad was! Namaste, IRene -- Irene de Villiers, B.Sc AASCA MCSSA D.I.Hom/D.Vet.Hom. P.O. Guest guest
Thank you. I think I will save my brain cells for remembering which beans I can and can't eat!! You've got a good brain there! I wish I knew what type my husband is. I suspect AB but maybe B. Definitely not A or O. Blessings, Marci > > > Marci wrote: >> My mom and were both A+. I am O+.
