Endo Visit

Hi, Most folk do just fine with thyroxine- it's the minority that don't- and therefore end up here with complex problems. Follow the advice re vits and minerals- see Dr. T Mantzourani advice on diet- in the forum files, and you'll probably do fine. If it doesn't help, then that's the time to ask for NDT. If the T4 works then ask for confirmatory diagnosis and then for the free prescriptions form. > thyroid treatment > From: nzeria01@...> Date: Sun, 29 Aug 2010 18:08:03 +0000> Subject: Re: endo visit> > You have got thyroid antibodies in your bloodstream and i think this means that we should give you a trial of thyroxine" He goes on to suggest a 3 months trial at 50mcg per day.> > > > Hi, I just posted a message, (please chaeck it out for context) but was also doing a little research on hashi's on the forum and came across something Sheila said to somebody else.> > "Many doctors won't treat patients who test positive for Hashimoto's antibodies, but who have TSH in the normal range. There are, however, some endocrinologists who believe that the presence of thyroid antibodies alone is enough to warrant treatment with small amounts of thyroid hormone. If you've tested positive for Hashimoto's antibodies, and have a 'normal' TSH' your doctor might wish to look into this further"> > I guess I'm therefore 'lucky' that i actually have an endo who is saying that he'll treat based on antibodies and symptoms rather than TSH.
