Guest guest
My name is Groetzinger. I am a PhD student in public health at the University of Illinois in Chicago. The topic of my dissertation study is: Attitudes, Beliefs and Experiences of Men of South Asian heritage in Chicago Area: Culturally Contextualizing HIV Risk.-- Very little is known or written about HIV/AIDS in relationship to the South Asian population in the US. For culturally contexualizing, one must understand as much as possible about sexuality and hiv risk, etc., in India/Pakistan, as well as how " things are changing " both in India/ Pakistan, and for South Asians in US. (I am not looking at drug use.) The epidemic in India is as relevant to HIV among South Asians in US as is the epidemic in the US, I think, in many ways, tho perhaps not especially in relationship to transmission; but no one knows yet! I find the exchanges through emails very enriching, though sometimes the excitement of being " in discussion " about topics of mutual interest tempts me from some of the other dissertation-preparation work. I am preparing to segmentalize my bibliography, so that in this and other ways, we can exchange bibs; I hope other people are e also thinking about sharing bibliographies and information. Thanks. Happy to respond to any questions; happy to have this posted to the list, If anyone else on the list is working the the field of HIV among U.S. based South Asian population, please write to me! Thank you. Groetzinger, MA Community Health Sciences, School of Public Health University of Illinois at Chicago, 1601 W.
