O.k. I found the info in the internet in Russian but it was in the

magazine Cancer Research (I think it's an american one). I'll try to

translate.

American scientists from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center were

researching anticancer effects of some supplements or meds or

something like that...And they found that vit C (ascorbic

acid)strengthens the cancer cells. They did not give vit C to people,

it was on the cell level.I hope you understand me. And chemotherapy

was less effective on these cells.

Sounds like drug company nonsense to me. Vit c boosts the immune system and allows the body to cure itself. Lots of research proving this. Check out Dr. Mercola's site.

Of course, synthentic vit may very well be harmful. Use only natural forms!Nonie------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If I am reading this right, I think that this is saying that Vitamin C may interfere with some cancer treatments ...

I have a friend with breast cancer going through chemo & she is supposed to stay away from vitamins for that very reason. It makes cancer cells multiply, is what she told me.AliOn Oct 7, 2008, at 1:14 PM, Nonie wrote:Sounds like drug company nonsense to me. Your friend is making one heck of a big mistake unfortunately.

I think this study was done on chemo patients and it demonstrated that vitamin C protects ALL cells from oxidative stress, including cancer cells. Therefore, it would be inadvisable to take vitamin c during chemo, since it's purpose is to kill cancer cells. For the rest of us, it is a good idea to protect our cells from oxidative stress and thus a good idea to take vitamin C.

As someone point out, the study was seriously flawed. Unless you are actively treating your cancer, vitamin C is an important nutrient to take -- especially since we don't make any. I personally believe that it's important to take even if you are treating cancer...but that's just my opinion. Vitamin C is one of the safest most studied nutrients around.

I agree and I will continue to take it. My markers came down when I started my protocol which included 3,000 - 5,000 mg Vit C.

We all have cancer cells, but for those of us who had cancer it exists

the known

IV treatment of vitamin C. This IV treatment in some cases is very

successful.

Re: New strange info about vit C

Yes, it is good for the rest of us. But for those of us who had cancer?

I do not know if I still have cancer cells or not?
