Guest guest
Well, as far the the Dr appt goes call and cancel the appt. When asked when you would like to reschedule say I will call. Or like you said you can say I am delaying any further vaxes until I research the subject but I must say be prepared for some comments. There is alot of info out there on various web sites and books and lots of well educated moms on this list whom I am sure will help you out all they can as far as questions go. Another list I like is Mothering.com they have a good vaccination board. best of luck to you. Guest guest
I saw that, made me upset, but it gave me a chance to talk to my four year old about the shot thing. WHy we dont do them, that kind of thing. He asked all kinds of questions, do they hurt? why do other people do them and we dont? I tried to just be honest and keep things on his level. There are several books that have involve trips to the docs too. I have a collection of pooh stories that we just dont read a couple of them because they are about this kind of thing. I am really careful about what I let the kids see and what we read to them, I am the same way about baby bottles, my kids know that mom's milk is what babies are supposed to get. ANy baby dolls that come with bottles, the bottles get tossed in the garbage. Same with dr's kits and " shot givers " ALtho we have talked about me getting blood tests and stuff before too. They know that mom has to get a blood workup to test glucose levels every once in a while. They have sat with me thru the whole 3 hour process, Breandan held my hand when they did my sticks last time. We just really try to talk about everything as openly as we can. nisha > Interestingly, the Blues Clues episode this week shows Blue going to the doctor > (not the vet) for a check up and she receives a vaccination to " keep her > healthy. Guest guest
I've been floating around here for several days and think I'm ready to introduce myself, and see if any of you have any advice for my set of circumstances. My mother (judithmarg@...) introduced me to this list, as she's been on it quite a while. I've gleaned a fair bit already, just by doing most of the newbie list, and reading back emails and such. My daughter is actually what drew my interest into adrenal/thyroid issues. My mother and sister had both been exploring thyroid and then adrenal for quite a while, but on the initial list of symptoms I saw it didn't strike me. It took a comparison (adrenal vs thyroid) side by side for me to initially see that my 10 year old fits adrenal fatigue perfectly, so I started asking what my sister had found out about that and started her on some supplementation including iodine (Lugols 2%). It has made a night and day difference, just in the month or so she's been taking it. She seems to be showing some signs of bromide detox currently though so we're working on that. My real question is for me right now though. I hadn't ever seen myself in the hypothyroid symptoms, until one of the side by side comparisons sorted them out well enough for me to realize I fit almost all the hypothyroid ones, just not the adrenal fatigue side. Most of the supportive supplementation (B-50, B12, Vit C, etc) I have been on anyway, since I find I feel much moodier and irritable without it. About the only thing I'm missing right now is the iodine itself in some form, and the selenium. My issue becomes I have an exclusively breastfed 3 month old. Does anybody know if starting iodine supplementation while breastfeeding is ok? Also concerned that if I bromide detox will it pass to him? However two of my big issues are difficulty losing weight and high blood pressure, both of which have a chance of being helped by supporting the thyroid, and I really want to work on so that I can be healthier in the rest of my childbearing years. Incidentally since I noticed the thread on basal temperatures, when I took them for 14 months fairly recently most months even my post ovulation temperatures were below what Steph references as normal (97.8). Most months my pre ovulation temperatures averaged 97.1 or so. I'm not sure how accurate trying to take those again would be though since the end of my night is up/down with the baby. Also, I would like any advice/cautions on proceeding without at least most of the labwork some have mentioned. For us right now, we simply do not have the finances to run most of the labs, or know of/have the money for a naturopath. Thanks!
