Iodine does change your hormone levels since it affects the ovaries and

adrenals. I am post meno but have gotten a cycle when increasing my iodine

dosages. I do have a friend who had this issue - actually very heavy to the

point of dropping ferritin levels each time she increased her iodine. She is

a thyroid cancer friend of mine so she needed to get the iodine in. She

pushed through it but the bleeding could be pretty bad. I am trying to

remember what my Dr told me to take when this happened to me. I think it

was B6 - plus increase my iron.

This happened to me years ago, pretty bad, I couldn't even leave the house.

I wasn't taking iodine back then, so it wasn't part of the picture. My NP

said it was Estrogen Dominance, and prescribed a natural Progesterone cream

to balance it out. Worked great, and as I got older I stopped needing to

use it as my Estrogen levels naturally dropped, and everything evened out.

I am SOOO glad you're talking about this. I've been having the same

problem. I guess it's the iodine. I'm only on 50 mg, but I've had

to start adding iron to my morning supplements. I figured that out

by looking at my fingernails, the tell-tale lines. I already do the

bio-id hormones. I'm thinking I need to add the B6? Thank you

ladies for asking this question!!!

I was just wondering if people find a need for extra Iodine during their menses?

I have noticed a slight increase in goitre and the need for thyroid hormones

both just befre my period and during. Is this common and does this mean that

people need a bit extra Iodine at this time?
