Guest guest
Thank you, . I just found some Omega pumpkin seed butter. You are right $10.35 for a jar. Ouch. Bet it will taste great, though. Irene, the fresh almond butter sounds good, too. Getting close to dinner time - I'm hungry. Deborah in Oregon _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of lescase@... The question would be, can the oil be used to saute things in ?... or does it have a heat level issue, like flax ? I ate it on crackers (non wheat) today and that was good. Bet it would be good in salad dressing too. Anyone experience this stuff yet ? Love,

(Food 4 Less's is noticably cheaper!) Don't think they are organic almonds, though. Haven't looked at the Freddies around here to see if they have grinders like the one Irene found in Spokane. Guest guest
I am so excited to have found organic pumpkin seed butter I've been making my own for awhile...so easy in the blender/food processor (morter and pestle makes it cremier but takes a lot of elbow grease), and its easier to find organic pumpkin seeds than the butter itself. I like to toast my seeds first.

Guest guest
> So, the way to make it is to buy seeds, toast them, and blend them until > they're butter? I put toasted pumpkin seeds (without the shell) into a blender or food processor with a little grey sea salt and puree them by adding a thin stream of olive oil. I make it with raw seeds too, but it tastes a little more bitter to me. I found that adding a small amount (1 tsp or so) of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar, and a few pinches of black pepper take away some of that bitterness. I love this as a dip for raw vegetables by adding quite a bit of garlic and some cayenne, then other seasonings to taste (turmeric, curry, ginger, etc) and sometimes adding some mayonaise. Its not very appealing looking to me (a green -brown) but it does taste yummy and I know how good it is for us.
Guest guest
I don't see why you couldn't make it. Just make sure your seeds aren't cold (warm is always good when making butters) and that they're dry; I'd also follow Lea Ann's advice for whatever the optimal amount is. It might not hurt to have some pumpkin seed oil on hand, just in case you need to add a few drops/ Pumpkin Seed Butter  Has anyone made pumpkin seed butter in your Vitamix? I bought some, it was hideously expensive. Any tips? Sandy
Guest guest
, After roasting do you throw the whole seed in, ie meat and shell? Thanks. I roast the seeds, then just puree them in the VM with a tiny squirt of agave nectar and a pinch of sea salt. Sometimes I throw in a little piece of cooked pear for extra creaminess, if I plan to eat it fairly quickly. Delish! It is hard to get out of the container-I have to use my " batterfinger " which is a spatula shaped just like a human finger, lol. Guest guest
I've thought about making it, but haven't yet. I get raw pumpkin seeds locally and there are indeed expensive (unless you grow your own like :-)Perhaps I'll roast my pumpkin seeds then make some nut butter. If you've tried some already made and want to make it - it must have tasted pretty good...It is best to use 3 cups of nuts. Any less and the air pocket is a problem, any more and you could over heat the machine. I'm guessing that you could easily make it without any added oil.
