Salba is white Chia seeds - grown on fertile soil and harvested at an optimal nutrient content. So basically it is seeds. Like all seeds, they have a lot of omega-6, and a little of the wrong kind of omega-3 (both inflammatory) - and quite a lot of other nutrients - to sustain a new plant when it germinates - so it is the " milk " of plants for their offspring. If you are looking for omega-3 that really is anti-inflammatory it needs to be fish or krill oil:-) See Nutrients in Chia seeds here: http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/cgi-bin/list_nut_edit.pl You will see an overwhelming amount of polyunsaturated oil - NOT omega-3. All seeds have too much of that. Personally I avoid seeds and seed oils lke the plague. My oils are: Vit E, fish oil, krill oil, rice bran oil, and most of all, extra virgin olive oil. Once in a while extra virgin ocobnut oil. Zero seed oil. I need ANTI-inflammatory stuff. Chia, Flax and other seeds are touted to have " Omega-3 " . But nobody tells you it is the wrong Omega-3. Up to 12% can be converted to the right kind under the right circumstances (and do you have those? or is your health less than perfect?) - the rest is inflammatory so why bother. Just use fish oil. Guest guest
I'm very familiar with "saba" (and have been using it for years) but I have no idea of what "salba" is. What is it? Salba Yesterday at work I learned about Salba. Just googled it and it also seems like a very healthy item to add to shakes or food in general. I recently added chia seeds, bee pollen and flax to my diet so the salba might replace the chia when I finish my supply. Have any of you used salba? Guest guest
This was information I found doing a google search. Have not tried this product and am not recommending it, just learning about it. Similar to chia seeds but supposedly better. Personally don't know, but thought I would share information. http://www.salbasmart.com/ > > I'm very familiar with " saba " (and have been using it for years) but I have no idea of what " salba " is.
