Guest guest
Hi Sorry to hear youhave been getting the runaround from the doc. Not unusual unfortunately. I believe there is a protocol in the files section on how to increase your Armour, I am on T3 only now for some time so cannot remember it offhand. I was struck by your comment about your voice mine started to go a month or so ago. I always liked a warble and to my shock horror of late I find I keep creaking and cannot reach notes I could reach very easily up until now. Any idea what causes this exactly? Anyone else have this problem? Mo > > I was first diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 2 years ago. Guest guest
I used to be in the Church Choir when I was young, but now, I only ever sing when there is nobody in ear-shot. I cannot reach high notes and now generally sing out of tune. I have to really try hard to sing in tune. You really don't want to hear this voice in song ( Luv - Sheila I was struck by your comment about your voice mine started to go a month or so ago. Guest guest
I used to be in a pagan choir but I had to stop going to practice as my voice went completely. I went to the GP and asked if it was related to Hypo and of course was told, " No of course not, you relate everything to your thyroid and it can't be resposible for everything! " ???? Silly woman!! I know other sufferers who have lost their singing voices too, even though I have been on Armour since Feb / March it still hasn't come back and I still have a very hoarse voice, especially in the mornings. Guest guest
Hi you former singers, I lost confidence in using a microphone few years ago, and put the problem down to hypoT. I decided it was part of the loss of muscle tone that we often get, and that was why I had lost control of my voice and couldn't pitch it correctly. I now find my singing voice more acceptable for " personal " use (ie audience of me) but haven't tried a microphone yet. my speaking voice is a bit gruff though. it has been improving too. People often ask if I have a cold though. I am hoping that with excercise and the more effective combinations of meds and supps that it will improve and I will try a little recording and see if the singing is bearable for anyone else to hear. I really miss singing. Now my memory is significantly recovered, it is the thing I miss most. Luv croaky Kat
Guest guest
I am also a singer and in a church choir. Actually we just performed " The Armed Man " by your fellow England citizen Karl . Anyway, I also had problems with my voice before I found I have a Reverse T3 problem. NOw that I am addressing this and my adrenals, I am starting to get my voice back to its powerful self. Guest guest
Oh well thank you for that encouraging thought Venizia. I would hate not to be able to sing any more. It gives me the greatest pleasure just to warble away to myself. Mo > > I am also a singer and in a church choir. Actually we just performed > " The Armed Man " by your fellow England citizen Karl . Guest guest
Venizia: How did you find out about having reverse T3? are you in NHS care or out of UK? (Seem to remember you are out of UK) I am hoping I can ask for my GP to test for stored ferritin next time I see him, but really, I just don't want to see him and am wondering about just going NPTECH route and self treating. The last thing I want is the posibility of a reduction in T4 script, though I suppose I will have to go for a routine blood test at some time. Kat > > I am also a singer and in a church choir. Guest guest
Hi Kat! I am in the U.S. I was having a lot of hypo symptoms with a high T4 and a high T3. I had a reverse T3 test which is difficult here in the U.S. to find a doctor to do it but I insisted. When you have a reverse T3 test done you also want to have a Free T3 test done at the same time. You then would divide the two numbers from each test result to get a ratio. If you get a number above 20 you are within a good range. Anything under 20 needs to be addressed. My ratio was 10.5, not good. If you google " reverse T3 " you will come up with a lot of info. So right now I am on only T3. T4 meds will just turn into Reverse T3 so one HAS to be off of all T4 meds and just take T3 which will get rid of the T4 in the body. So what is happening is T4 was turning into Reverse T3 instead of T3 and not getting into my cells, hence all the hypo symptoms. I am also addressing an adrenal issue so this is very difficult to manage and can take time. Hope this helps and does not confuse you. Guest guest
Hiya Sorry to hear you are suffering this too. I totally believe the answer about the muscles is spot on. My voice goes croakier the more tired I am. It has got worse the more hypo I am too. Don't listen to doc, hoarseness is a very recognised symptom of hypo lotsa luv Dawnx
