Guest guest
There's some different takes on T4 and wether we need it or not, so I'd like to get some opinions here on what it's even for?I've noticed that if I take Armour it lifts my mood, but not so with just T3. Is T4 responsible for any brain functions? Elyse
Guest guest
Hi Elyse If you want to know about thyroxine - read its story here http://pubs.acs.org/cen/coverstory/83/8325/8325thyroxine.html For the majority of sufferers of hypothyroidism, it appears that thyroxine alone does appear to work OK for them, but we never really know whether these patients are feeling as well as they could be. Thyroxine is needed by the brain - one of the symptoms many of us suffer with hypothyroidism is brain fog and short term memory, and this is because it is not getting the thyroid hormone it needs. However, although thyroxine is the dominant hormone secreted by the thyroid gland, because it is mainly inactive hormone, it needs to convert through the liver, kidneys and other thyroid receptors to the active hormone T3- and it is T3 your body needs to make it function. Armour life your mood because it contains T4, T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin - so you are getting the full benefit of all the thyroid hormones your body requires.
