allergic to thyroxine

Hi Tilly,

well it's going back a bit now....I went to the nutritionist because I wasn't getting anywhere with the NHS and I wasn't doing well on thyroxine (felt poisoned) and I thought that by sorting out my diet I might be able to feel better and sort out my hypoglycemia too.

Fortunately she was very knowledgeable about hypo t and encouraged by her I had quite a few tests done, iron ,adrenals etc and as far as I can remember it was from one of these 'send off' tests that I found out that I was allergic to maize . However, some time later, armed with knowledge gleaned from the TPA, I suggested to my gp that perhaps I was not converting the T4 in my thyroxine and he eventually, after loads of blood tests, agreed. So perhaps the 'maize' issue wasn't the largest part of my problem.I did get alot of hot flushes on the thyroxine and this can be a symptom of maize allergy. I'm very sorry that you can't tolerate Armour.Have you tried the other natural thyroid replacement ?

What are the symptoms of your intolerance ? I'm assuming that you've followed up all the other avenues of inability to synthesise.....?

I can't tolerate lots of things (never used to be like that) so I can really empathise....
