Guest guest
Hi All: I am new to the group- but not new on this journey. I have been fighting my way thru doctors and prescriptions and all sorts of nonsense. I think many of you may relate In any case my first question: If you used to use Armour or Nature Throid - what are you using now? I was on Armour then Nature Throid. When it became " back ordered " - I had a compounding pharmacy " make " Nature throid. I started noticing the hypo symptoms coming back. I also take a compounded T3 as well. My doctor also cut down my Nature throid from 5 grains daily to 4, beause she though the " excess " T4 was binding to my estrogen causing me to not have a period. I think she was wrong about that. My period never returned after the cut- then sigh...I had to use COMPOUNDED Nature throid. I was gaining weight rapidly, and miserable. And totally suspicious of this new medication being inferior. I just had blood work- to prove that I was not going crazy. Antibodies negative- the rest not so great. TSH 0.01 T4 total 3.9 (4.5-12.5) T4 free 0.7 (0.8-1.8) T3 total 91 (97-219) T3 free 221 (230-420) RT3 23 (11-32) I have decided there is no sense in paying for pricey scripts that are useless and am considering a few options: 1. Cytomel Only 2. Cytomel + Idoral 3. Cytomel + Iodoral + over the counter dietary dessicated thyroid like Nutri- Meds, the new Hypo Support Formula (HSF) from RLC (the makes of Nature throid) or maybe something from Standard Process. Note: What I like about Nuri Meds- they offer a porcine option. The others are Bovine I believe. 4. Iodoral only Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have been taking a mix of Cytomel and the compounded T3 (because I have both) and iodine (mix of Standrad Process IODOMERE and Kelp) this week. I feel great. Waiting for Iodoral in the mail. Sorry to blather on and on....
