Guest guest
Well I agree with Ellen in terms of prescription drugs. Have you ever seen the ads for these drugs now? Toward the end of the ad they always " and the side effects include " have you what some of the side effects are to these drugs? Scary. I know that I don't what to have to battle diarhea from using nazal spray. I mean thanks but no thanks. Ellen <mzellen03@...> wrote:My first " rule " is I won't have an alternative medicine professional who refuses to work with " mainstream " medicine and I won't have a medical professional who refuses to work with alternative medicine. My first experience was a " while " ago. I had been struggling with infertility for several years. I now have 2 great kids, both of whom were conceived without fertility drugs. I was able to maintain the pregnancies (after 5 miscarriages) without drugs. My latest experience was when my husband was diagnosed with cancer. He lived 18 months (instead of the projected 6-8 weeks) and those months were largely pain free (the cancer doctor went into it assuming that pain control would be the goal). At this point I take no drugs on a regular basis. I have no pressing health issues (the anosmia is not something I consider " pressing " in a medical sense) and my doctor says that I'm overweight, but healthy. ;-) Ellen
Guest guest
Please don't get me wrong - I have used prescription drugs, but as a last resort. The reason Irene criticized me this time was because I asked a question about prednisone (at least close to being one of the most damaging drugs on the market). Mainstream prescription drugs have their place, but I believe that a doctor who brings out the Rx pad first should be avoided. My doctors have all been willing to work with alternative medicine and keep tabs on my bloodwork, etc., while using homeopathic (and other) medicines. You are absolutely, right about the ads - pick a target audience and develop a drug for them. I just tune them out. ;-) Ellen Re: My experience with homeopathy > Well I agree with Ellen in terms of prescription drugs. Have you ever > seen the ads for these drugs now? Guest guest
PREDNISONE! That drug ruined my life. Because of that drug, I gained sixty pounds in a matter of months and no I was not eating tons of food, but boy did I crave sweets almost all the time on that drug and it made my cheeks kinda round. Hello! what the hell is that all about. Everything had to have sugar on it. Okay everyone repeat after me. No more prednisone. Guest guest
The difference is, Irene - I see that I'm not an expert in everything I choose to do. The only thing I'm an expert in is *ME*. I agree with a lot of what you say - but it's really hard to see beyond your attitude. The reason Irene criticized me I have never criticised you. I have offered information and suggestions and tried to understand your situation - all of which is not in any way criticism. You are good at *imagining* criticism where none exists. .....Irene -- Irene de Villiers, B.Sc; AASCA; MCSSA; D.I.Hom. Guest guest
Ellen, I think you may not have meant to, but I personally had the impression you were already taking the prednisone. If others on the list had that impression, they were just worried for you and wanted you to know the consequenses. I'm sure you took it as hurtful, but I don't think they meant it to be. Whatever you decide to do, we still care. Re: My experience with homeopathy > PREDNISONE! That drug ruined my life. I know. It's a terrible drug. Last chance. Guest guest
I realize that I don't know everything about everything...I didn't realize that was self-denigrating, just realistic. There are some things that I'm good at, a couple that I *am* expert* in. But not everything. I'm glad for you that you are at 100% of 100% of 100% of everything you do. I really am. Guest guest
I have two of my own (boy 18 and girl 16) and one (boy 16) that's staying here for a while until some legal things get straightened out - and that may be a while. ;-) Ellen Re: My experience with homeopathy > > > > My dog & cat think I am perfect also. Guest guest
I'm definitely on my cats' " litter pan " list. Along with the foster kid came his two cats. So now there are four...They're getting along surprisingly well - my " fatboy " has his nose out of joint, the two new ones are both males. Mine are both declawed and the new ones aren't, but so far, so good. ;-) Ellen Re: My experience with homeopathy > My dog & cat think I am perfect also. Probably the only living creatures > that do. Guest guest
> Great are they not? > The cats and the flower essences :-)) > I use the BAch ones a good bit in my pratice. They really work on my sweet girl. But it seems like every essence that gets " prescribed " for her is FES (Flower Essence Society) and none of my health store outlets carries FES, only Bach. But I can usually get what I need by mail within a couple days. Personally, I think that anyone who owns a pet should have Rescue Remedy on hand. Such a huge help! (I take it when I'm stressed.)
