Guest guest
Hi Suzi, Are you taking anything for being hypothyroid? I am seeing Dr P soon...I could not comment on whether you would be better going straight onto Armour, but you could always give Dr P a call as I think a couple of phone calls are included in the consultation fee, if I am correct? With regards to seeing the Endo, personally I did not have much luck with the Endos in my area, I originally sacked Dr J ( so arrogant!) and went onto Dr T not much better that was around 1995/6 when my thryoid was overactive (thyrotoxicosis)I have to take some responsibility myself; but it was through them that I took Radioiodine which ablated my thyroid. You could take a chance with the Endo, I am sure some are sympathetic. Go to the appointment well prepared, it may be wise to take someone with you to take notes, even ask questions on your behalf (like your advocate). Some Consultants can be condescending I think (that is putting it lightly!). If they cannot empathize with you, try not to let it drag you down, you can take the option of walking out the door if you end up feeling like they are wasting your time; it's your body, its your time and ultimately you know what is best for you. Keeping a diary is a good idea, I must get back to mine. It's a good idea to read up as much as you can about treatments and your condition. I recently bought Stop The Thyroid Madness book from Amazon, this is a good reference book, I think. Take care it sounds like you are on the right road. Guest guest
Hi Suz,Ali and everybody Please remember that if you buy ANYTHING whatsoever from Amazon to buy through the link from our website http://www.tpa-uk.org.uk/books.php 5% of the cost of your purchase will be donated to TPA-UK and this will go towards the cost of stationery, printing, postage of correspondence that we need to send to all NHS endocrinologists and thyroid organisations. With Christmas coming up, please keep this link safe and use it on each occasion. Luv - Sheila It's a good idea to read up as much as you can about treatments and your condition. Guest guest
Hi - I am so pleased that you have started to make such good progress. However, to be sure you don't push things too far, I would be tempted to try to raise your synthetic T3 first (or your Armour first) but not the two together. Take one at a time and make sure your body is able to cope with that raise before you add in the increase of the other. That way, your body will not get the sudden shock of the increased synthetic t3 and natural T3 all at once. Are you splitting your dose? If not, I would try this. Luv - Sheila He said he could see that I have improved greatly since my last visit. The Isocort seems to have done the trick. He urged me now to try and increase the T3 and see how that goes - and even try to increase the Armour. I have to still try to increase the Isocort to support the increase in thyroid meds.
