Guest guest
Hi, was looking through earlier posts about MP questions and noticed this quote - " The question I think is SO important is why gp's aren't allowed to prescribe any drug for hypothyroidism other than thyroxine! " My doctor prescribes Liothyronine (T3) upon direction from the NHS endocrinologist. Admitted he hates prescribing it, and complains all the time. In fact he insisted I come off it last June and tried to up my T4 from 100 to 200. It was only when I refused to take that dosage that he referred me to an endo. Who then put me on just T4, found it didn't do the trick and now has me on T3 and T4, which seems to be going great. Don't think I've missed anything in the forums, but doctors are actually allowed to prescribe T3 (liothyronine) aren't they?. My last prescription was given last week. I'm definately hypothyroid without T3/T4 and my antibody count a couple of months ago was 1737!
