Guest guest
Tom, I agree with your positive spin thoughts about carbs. Have you read the book Lights Out: Sleep, Sugar, and Survival? Don Non-Secretors and various sugars/simple carbohydrates I just got excited to put a positive spin on not being able to eat much sugar or simple carbs. Its because my body is so efficient with the little bit of carb it gets! This would fit with O-NonSecretor being the oldest blood sub group combination. Humans ate what they could seasonally and probably only had fruits or simple carbs when they were in season so their bodies didn't adapt to them as well and when they did have them the body was exceptionally efficient at using the nutrients by releasing higher amounts of insulin to drive those rare nutrients into the cells. If someone follows what I'm saying, let me know your thoughts. It's just a concept that encouraged me to understand it! Guest guest
I mentioned the Lights Out book because of what you said about eating carbs seasonally. The book explains the role of many hormones and neurotransmitters from an anthropology and evolutionary biology point of view. The book describes how 24x7 artificial light and secondarily an endless supply of readily available carbs all year round have changed our environment and therefore messed up our hormone and neurotransmitter balance. The book relates these changes in our environment, hormones, neurotransmitters to some of biggest health issues of the day, obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and depression. The book is very compatible with Type O BTD way of thinking. I plan on trying to incorporate some of the recommendations, primarily more and earlier sleep and fewer carbs in the winter. I checked it out from the local library. Non-Secretors and various sugars/simple carbohydrates I just got excited to put a positive spin on not being able to eat much sugar or simple carbs. Guest guest
In the Lights Out book they recommend a minimum of 9.5 hours of sleep a night in total darkness for 7 months during the winter. At the same time carb intake should be at a minimum by only eating vegetables that are seasonally correct, such as root vegetables and no fruit, grain, and sugars. If weight loss is important, then shoot for only 25-45g of carbs a day during this time. Every year around the end of Oct. I start to need a lot more sleep too. I don’t know why unless it is some primal urge to get the sleep that I am supposed to get in the winter, as the book talks about. Guest guest
I'll be getting the book the next time I have money for them. Probably a couple weeks. Just in time to have something to read for the winter. ----- Original Message ----- In the Lights Out book they recommend a minimum of 9.5 hours of sleep a night in total darkness for 7 months during the winter.
