Guest guest
Glad you asked this because I was about to post the same question. When I was first diagnosed I had a visible goitre but a year later that has disappeared, but for a few weeks now I have felt a tightening in my throat. I keep thinking I am starting with a cold or something, like my throat is full of catarrh (but it's not) and I feel that I need to keep swallowing. It is starting to feel a little uncomfortale when I am eating too. Booley x
Guest guest
Hi Dawn, I would say 'yes'. I have Hashi's and this was one of the symptoms that I visited my GP with in Oct/Nov last year. It felt like a constant pressure and affected my ability to swallow. Mind you my goitre had also grown, (I'm not so far along the Hashi's path as you). After an increase in T4 the sensation has reduced (but hasn't gone) and my goitre has shrunk by over an inch. Guest guest
Hi all, yes, I woke with a start one night when it was bad, I was dreaming that I was being strangled, only the wife was there. I couldn't blame her if it was her, I must have been a right pain lately. Best wishes keith > > Hi Dawn, > > I would say 'yes'. > > I have Hashi's and this was one of the symptoms that I visited my GP > with in Oct/Nov last year. Guest guest
Hi , Sounds like it was causing sleep apnoea.....? Guest guest
, This might seem off topic, but it isn't. This might seem like a weird question keith, but in your dream, who/what was strangling you? The reason I ask is because I went to a sleep disorder course a while ago and the lecturer (from a respected sleep disorder unit at a major hospital in my state) told us an interesting story about dreams about being strangled! Guest guest
Well I haven't been diagnosed with anything yet, and it may just be me reading it, but I can feel something similar right now. I couldn't get to sleep until about 4 last night because of this feeling, kept feeling as though my collar was too tight. It feels like a lump in the front of my throat, with a slight tingling feeling. One strange thing I have noticed is that I seem to connect the feeling with being full after having eaten a big meal. Maybe because that was the time I can remember becoming aware of it. -Matt
Guest guest
Perhaps they should do a scan Dawn to see exactly what is happening. You can still grow a goitre on the thyroid and the swelling can be inside, rather than showing on the outside of the neck. If you have nodules these can also be on the backside of the thyroid, if you get my meaning. Any Hashimoto's attack on the thyroid can cause some inflammation and discomfort….however, I wish it was possible for you to get a doctor who knows about thyroid disease and chuck the one you have in the trash bin. Luv - Sheila In hashis are you having an attack if you feel a lump in the throat from the inside? I cannot feel anything from the outside, just feels as though something is pressing in my throat. If I go to docs he will say probably it is that globus hystericus or whatever they call it. My thyroid is small and atrophied, so cannot see why it would be pressing, however if anyone has any knowledge of this could they please let me know? Guest guest
No idea P, it was someone behind me with something round my neck, bw > > , This might seem off topic, but it isn't. Guest guest
Me too Shiela hon, definately wish I could. I had a scan about 18 months ago and it was then I was told it was very small and not doing much, but yes, I could get nodules inside I understand what you are saying. I will give it a week or so and see if it stops and if not get someone to see to it, scan it rather. Few more TH and it might go down eh? Heres hoping. I think it is antibodies cos I get that inner buzzin in funny places occasionally lol. Ever positive (I wish lol) ''only the wife was there. I couldn't blame her if it was her, I must have been a right pain lately.'' LOL . That made me laugh lotsa luv Dawnx
