Guest guest
Thank you, . I do have a few questions. Can the added oil be for cooking, or must it be added after cooking? What is dulse? The kelp I have is in long crinkly sheets. I just cut it up and add to salads. Is there a kelp available in sprinkle form (like salt)? How many ounces of protein does one egg count as? Can the fruit be added to a meal instead of in between breakfast and lunch? I have bladderwrack capsules (from NAP). How many of them should I take per day, if any? Thanks! Guest guest
Yes, or 6 eggs. Guest guest
That sounds like a huge breakfast to me, and, since being on this diet I have no interest at all in snacks but just have my three meals and drink lots of water and herbal teas. Remember to consume fruits always alone. I've been watching the diet ideas. This part I do not agree with. Fruit is too high in sugar to be eaten alone and should in my opinion ALWAYS be eaten with significant protein and some oil - in other words with a meal - to " cover " the insulin jolt it will cause. It's a strain on the pancreas if you eat high-carb items alone - and also hard on the digestive system when so much alkali is needed. It works much better if eaten at the same time as protein - as then you do not have an overdose of either acid or alkali digestive juices - and the stomach's buffering system that tries to keep things on the level - and is not overtaxed. A lot of O types will have a really hard time with fruit on its own and will get indigestion from the alkali needed for digestion - feels like heartburn but is from alkali not acid. This is no joke - nor is the jolt to anyone's insulin requirements - you will get pancreatic burn-out if you keep eating high sugar on its own. Some protein to produce acid and have some balance - is a good thing. We have buffering systems to make sure each does their job - at the same time - in the stomach. (Don't read that rubbish about eating fruits separately - written by those who did not study their biology of digestion properly. A book called Fit For Life was the worst offender I saw so far.) Guest guest
Sure can - 4oz instead of 6oz * Hi I'm 150 lbs (5'0 " tall) and I should weigh about 120lbs. Should I just decrease the portions a bit but maintain the same basic diet? Thanks! Trish ..
Guest guest
Okay, so the protein bars and soy yogurts are gone. I went to the store tonight and bought all sorts of beneficial and neutral proteins (beef, lamb, chicken, salmon) and vegetables (broccoli, carrots, sweet potatoes, peas, spinach). But after all this discussion, I do have two more questions. What is the purpose of the water with lemon and salt in the morning? and What is the ratio of a person's weight to the amount of protein? If I do end up losing weight on this, at what point do I decrease the amount of protein, and how (from which meals first)? Oh, how often can I have pineapple juice? And where does goat cheese fit into this, if I want some? Guess I had more than two questions. Thanks! Carolyn
Guest guest
>What is the purpose of the water with lemon and salt in the morning?< Easier to consume that much water and I meant to say that do this all day, unless you don't find it necessary. You get minerals and vitamins and makes the water taste better. >What is the ratio of a person's weight to the amount of protein?< The less body fat you have the faster your metabolism which requires more food, so for now don't worry much about it. In general, you want 1 gr per lbs. However the ratio that I gave you is lower. Once your body starts burning fat you will have a better understanding of your body. >Oh, how often can I have pineapple juice? And where does goat cheese fit into this, if I want some?< Juice is pure sugar and not beneficial when one is trying to reduce weight. What I suggest is to eat the fruit (once a day), btw, all this is an addiction to sugar. Give the diet a chance and your cravings for **juices** will go away. If you must use some, cut it with water (1oz juice to 10oz water) Goat cheese - only sprinkle a little bit on veggies, no larger amounts. We want to get your body to use medicine, not poison :-) Just try the diet that I outlined for you. Be strong and don't give in into your addictions. You have no need to eat cheese to be healthy. Now if you change your mind & want a diet to satisfy your addictions... I can do that as well, and both pineapple & goat cheese would be part of it. However that diet would make you gain weight and help you age faster. Let me know! :-) ABO Specifics Inc. - http://www.foodforyourblood.com * What is the ratio of a person's weight to the amount of protein? I don't mnd the taste of water -- it's my beverage of choice anyway -- so making it more palatable isn't an issue. And I think I get my vitamins and minerals elsewhere (I do take those supplements, remember -- and by the way, I stopped taking alfalfa). So if this is optional, I'll forgo it. I was only drinking the pineapple juice to take my morning supplements with -- and because I read here that it worked to reduce body edema. I can easily drop it. I probably am getting used to the sugar again -- with the yogurt and protein bars -- after spending more than a year completely sugar-free. I mean, I don't even use sugar substitutes. The yogurt and protein bars were my only added sugars, and lately the juice has been my only fruit-sugar (I guess in the winter, my desire for fruit drops -- I'd never noticed that before). Okay, , here's another question, now that we're talking water. I've heard all sorts of conflicting ideas about *when* to have water. Before eating? During eating? After eating? Should there be a time buffer? I have a friend who, because of surgery, is not permitted to drink water for 1/2 hour before or 1/2 hour after eating, but she is supposed to drink lots of water during the day. I know why it is this way for her -- should it be this way for everyone? Thanks, Carolyn

Where is the 190 grams of protein? By my calc, there are 16oz of protein all up. If there's 7 grams of protein per oz, that makes 112 grams of protein. Which leaves another 78 grams to get. Is that covered by the 5 cups of veges? Is there a generic figure for vegetables that we can use when calulating protein consumption? Otherwise, if you actually mean 16oz of protein, then that's actually 453 grams of protein. So I'm guessing that's not what you meant. Why do you say that? You body will enjoy the liquid whenever you drink it - and if you eat a " dry " meal you will not digest it very well, as all food needs a good deal of liquid to dissolve in before it can even be absorbed. Do not listed to the stories about " diluting " digestive juices. They are an old wives tale. Your digestive juices have to do with total amount of digestive juice present - not how much water it is in. Think this way: If you swallow a teaspoon of ascorbic acid powder all by itself - you will hopefully get a teaspoon of Vit C into you. If you swallow the same amount in a cup of water - you will still get a teaspoon of Vitamin C into you, but this time it will dissolve properly and be absorbed instead of giving your stomach lining a hard time - or going through to the intestine because it had too little fluid to dissolve it. NOTHING gets absorbed unless it is properly dissolved. SO failing to drink enough with meals is a very bad idea. And drinking a lot with meals does not " dilute " the ability to digest - quite the opposite - it improves the ability to digest - the same way you can absorb vitamin C better in liquid than without it. So drink up - any time you like. Be reasonable: If you drink a gallon water at a meal, you may not have *space* to fit in any food. But having plenty of liquid to dissolve the food particles helps digestion to occur well. Often if you have indigestion it is simply because there was not enough liquid to dissolve everything. Drink more and it will come right - you don't need an " antacid " every time your insides yell that " the acid needs some diluting here please so it can work on the food instead of the stomach walls " !
