Guest guest
Hi All, I sent this message a little while ago and it was just returned, I had misaddressed it to <@...> Freudian slip? Teach to put bugs in the system and call them upgrades:-) Well the 3rd of the 4 jaw surgeries plus dental work - is behind me yay! I've not been able to catch up on list posts at all yet, but wanted to " check in " and say hi. My surgery on Thursday went well, and I have found the right remedies to help the discomfort. I actually learned a lot from the surgeon. I always assumed tooth pain was nerve pain, and first aid remedy selection is based on cause. So for nerve pain I was using hypericum and some arnica for general trauma - with very limited effect from the arnica and none from the hypericum. So I resorted Tylenol/Aleve in the quite high amounts recommended by the surgeon - initially. He's a nice man and left me his cell phone to call if I had problems. I did have - as I had an extremely severe reaction to one of the three anaesthetics - basically I woke 2am that night, swollen all over, eyes swelled shut and itching and almost unable to breathe - the choking for air woke me. The itchy eyes had started much earlier but I had swallowed a few teaspoons of vitamin C to detoxify the anaesthetic and that must have staved off the bad reaction till the C wore off later. Anyway more C practically by the bucketful plus huge amounts of pantothenic acid and B6 and homeopathic Apis 200C, got that allergic reaction under control and by morning the swelling was down except the eyes which were fine by midday Friday. I have been feeling exhausted (a typical response after a close anaphylactic reaction as it depletes the adrenals badly.) Since then I have started making a remedy from some drops of anaesthetic (a few drops of each of the three used) so as to dotox better from that - plan to get to 30C but have not found energy to complete it yet:-) Also discussed the lack of pain relief (other than the bone area which was okay using Symphytum - the teeth were VERY sore still even before the Thursday surgery) with the surgeon before I left Thurs. He explained that the pain I was feeling was more to do with the drilling of tooth dentine from below through the jaw (to seal the root tips from the bone end) as well as from the top where old amalgam fillings were removed and the tooth decay under them drilled out and the tooth prepared for a crown - and he said there would be irritation to the multitude of fine blood vessels in the dentine tooth material which is live tissue however dead it may seem. Also he said the ligaments holding the teeth to the jaw would be affected by this kind of surgery and drilling so basically it is more like a sprained tooth than a nerve damaged tooth!!! Well that was a real eye-opener - who ever heard of a sprained tooth? Anyway when I arrived home (the surgeon is in Idaho so a bit of a drive) I immediately changed to the first aid for sprains and took Arnica 1M , Rhus-T 200C and Ruta 30C. Within a very short time (aided by 1/2 glass of shiraz and 2 hrs sleep) the pain was hugely improved and has continued to improve so that today I can already eat soft food like scrambled egg and bread instead of only liquid, without discomfort (where before the 3rd surgery liquid only was the rule. It now just needs some more healing time - and the 4th and (should be) final surgery and final amalgam removal and crown fitting (11 crowns) will be on the 6th. I shall dread that a lot less knowing I have the right remedies now. The sprain remedies made the Tylenol/Advil (discontinued after only one dose on leaving the surgery) seem useless by comparison - like night and day after starting those! Oh I love homeopathy! (I also use Symphytum 200C for bone pain - but that one I had down pat the first time). So based on my new education on teeth, here's a first aid summary for the dentistry I hope you never need!!! * All dental work instead of antibiotics: Pyrogenium 200C aqueous twice a day starting day before and continuing a week after. This is really important especially if you are getting your teeth cleaned as plaque can get into compromised little blood vessels and those bacteria can travel to the heart and set up housekeeping there. * If you need major dental work as I did - get your teeth cleaned a week in advance of the first appointment to have a clean and healed mouth free of plaque - especially for the kind of work that opens up your jaw area like extraction or bone surgery. Tell the hygienist to pay special attention to the areas where teeth meet gums, as most are sloppy there! [My current surgeon insisted on this good cleaning before he worked on me. Nobody else bothered before. It's also essential if you need a crown as it will not fit well over plaque.] * Extractions: this indeed severs a nerve and causes nerve pain, so you need Hypericum 200C for that, plus Arnica 200C or 1M for the tissue damage. Also Calendula/Hypericum (aka Hypercal) tincture topically, initially on a gauze pressure bandage to stop bleeding without a dry socket - and then diluted as a mouth rinse after eating, to keep infection out. Bone surgery: Same thing for surgery stitchery areas over the jawbone - do the hypercium/calendula thing. Ledum 30C will stop/prevent swelling, but also after bone surgery do NOT bend over for the first week. This is a challenge when you have many cat litter trays..... but if you bend over your whole face will swell and get sore. So the litter is up on tables and chairs a the moment except one for my big girl who will not use a raised tray. After one - um - major " misunderstanding " - I've trained her to call me when she needs the litter and I let her into a cage that keeps the others away from her tray. She tells me when she wants in/out, and she gets a special treat in there too (Nori). * Bone surgery needs Symphytum 30C or Symphytum 200C for bone pain - also arnica 200C for tissue damage. * Amalgam removal detox from mercury exposure: I used Merc sol 12C twice a day starting a day before and continuing a week after the removal. By the way never allow a dental hygienist to polish an amalgam filling if you have any - it releases a lot of mercury. * Any drilling work will damage dentine and tooth ligaments causing dentine and ligament inflammation, whether it is from below through the bone or from the top as in decay drilling etc - so it is a " sprain " and this needs Arnica, Rhus-t and Ruta in 30C or higher depending how much drilling etc. Hypericum does not help here. A clue to sprained teeth is if it hurts to chew with them despite not having an abscess below the root - and/or extreme temperature sensitivity. If you absolutely have to have allopathic pain killers, the combination that works best per my dental surgeon (and per my experience) is very specific: 1000 mg Tylenol (2 tabs) and 400mg Advil (2 tabs) taken together, every 4 hrs till it improves. This is a high dose anti-inflammatory approach not to be abused - so I did this only once as by 4 hrs time I had figured the sprain stuff. I mention it as when you need it you need it:-)) *Anaphylacic and other allergic responses. I have a lot of drug allergies so I pre-loaded myself with 2 teaspoons pure ascorbic acid, plus another one every two hours during the surgery day. Also 1500 mg Pantothenic acid capsules (NOT timed release tablets) each time I take C, plus 50 or 100 mg Vit B6 each time too. This trio is great for adrenal/allergic response management. I know now it is what kept me from having a reaction during the actual surgery - though my nose " slammed shut " after the special lower jaw anaesthetic (a nerve blocker and which most people do not have reactions to; trust me to be different). This special trio of anti-anaphylaxis and anti-allergy vitamins is one I learned about many decades ago when I and my kids were at risk for anaphylaxis from insect stings. So it's handy for any allergic response, and you need to repeat the dosing as often as needed (like if you feel the reaction starting up again) till it is all detoxed by this trio. Also use Apis 200c for any hot swelling etc type allergic response, especially if it is also itchy. So for now that's my story and hopefully also useful info learned from it. I am LOVING the weather here. As some folks may know, I feel frozen at any temp below 75 and I don't feel hot till it's in the hundreds. So my little house is just right by my standards at the moment though the rest of the population here is complaining about the sudden change to 90 degree weather (from 60 some degree weather). My kitties dumped a LOT of undercoat more than a month ago and look short-haired other than very long and very furry tails to wrap round themselves if a cool bit hits - such fantastic design! - so I knew a hot spell was en route - they are a great advance weather system :-)) Oh - another story. My ISP has had huge problems with a virus and was non-functional over the weekend and is sporadically available today so far. I have signed up a backup email as furryboots@... at another ISP. It's an awful ISP as they block half the emails I need with a stupid spam block policy, but it will do till I find a better back-up ISP. So do please note if you wish - that email alternative - and also my phone number for emergencies: 509-568-1353 I shall not likely be on list much this week apart from this check-in, and I'll try to catch up reading list emails at some point this(?) week too. I'll pick up client work first, then tutor work then list emails :-)) Might even mow the lawn one day, but the weeds have such pretty flowers.... - I am so sorry - you have a very sad situation to deal with, look after *yourself* too at this time, no only Noble - suggest Rescue remedy, Star of Bethlehem, Olive, and Ignatia 200C - and do not forget to eat plenty of protein and antioxidants to keep your system coping:-) Order in if need be. Keep beef jerky and your favourite fruit in your pocket... etc. I hope all is well with you all otherwise and that such problems as arise are small ones......... As you slide down the bannister of life, may the splinters always face the right way :-) Namaste, Irene -- Irene de Villiers, B.Sc AASCA MCSSA D.I.Hom/D.Vet.Hom. P.O.
