Guest guest
Thanks Steph, I'm taking 1000 mg of Vit. C and the only salt I use is on my food. I do use sea salt. Should I be taking more of both? Robin > > It could be. Guest guest
That's part of the problem. Supplementing with iodine requires 2,000 - 5,000 mgs Vit C and 1/2 tsp unrefined salt - supplementing and using liberally on food above that 1/2 tsp. Is your sea salt white in color? Because if it is, odds are it is refined (cleaned) which isn't good. Your salt should be $5 / lb or more. Guest guest
I'll start with more Vit. C tonight. I always take it before I go to bed. Yes , my salt is white. I'll make a trip to the health store and get some of the " good " stuff. I didn't know that the white was refined. I know there are different colors of sea salt from different regions of the world. Is there any particular one that I should be looking for? I do use salt very liberally. I like the taste of it! I know I crave it sometimes, so I guess I need it. Robin > > > > It could be. Guest guest
If you crave it, it could be a sign of adrenal insufficiency. Celtic brand seems to work best for most but others use Redmond's or Himalayan too. Guest guest
I do have adrenal insufficiency. I'm taking Isocort for that and it has helped a lot. I notice I crave the salt more when I'm tired. I'll check and see what the health stores around here have for salt. If I can't find anything you mentioned, I'll order online. Thanks again. Guest guest
Robin, I think you want to spread out the 2000 – 5000 Vit C throughout the day, not waiting until bedtime. The Vit C helps clear out the toxins, and if you are waiting that many hours, it won’t help that much. Donna in IL
Guest guest
You are right. It is an antioxidant. You should take half in the morning and half in the afternoon / evening. Guest guest
No I think that is the largest. You can also go to: www.froogle.com and type in Celtic Salt and see what pops up. Guest guest
I've also found that buying vitamin c powder or crystals and mixing them into my glasses of water (we call it " c-water " ) or lemon-water (sometimes with stevia for lemonade) helps spread it out through the day very evenly. L-ascorbic only, not racemate which includes D-ascorbic, which our body can't use and might even have deleterious effects. I've found one readily available brand that is L-ascorbic only, and another website that is promising to sell it in bulk but I'm not sure if mentioning brands is ok on the list so I'll hold off while I go re-read the introduction stuff. I usually use about 500mg per glass (1/8tsp). It is much more cost effective this way also. I just wanted to share what has been helpful for me. Guest guest
Steph, what are my choices for taking the Vitamin C EASILY without having to chew all those 500mg ceewables every day? I'm getting Vit C in my BalanCe (VRP) but would really like to take maybe 1 more tablet or an easy liquid tab. Thanks! Guest guest
A much more economical option is C-Salts by Wholesale Nutrition: http://www.nutri.com/index.cfm/page/C_Salts/learn-about-c-salts.cfm?CFID=9525861\ & CFTOKEN=77075049 I have used it for several years and have not found anything else as economical. Guest guest
Got a question privately but have brushed up and read messages so wanted to post reply here in case it's useful to others. I recently bought Bluebonnet's brand from iHerb. I'm considering buying from purebulk.com also as they have a better price and have the L form, but I haven't yet so I can't comment on their quality or service.. always trepidatious about buying from a new site.
