There are quite a few thyroid groups that don't understand (or want to understand) how iodine works or why there are issues with some. It is sad because it keeps many sick that could be getting well. Do you know anything about hyperparathyroid? They say these glands have nothing to do with thyroid is that true in your experiences? Will Iodine help this problem before any surgery.

No RAI....just blood tests reveal high calcium...her regular doc told her a year ago that she needed to have surgery but gave her D2 high dosage to take...recent blood test revealed no change.

I've tried to get her to switch to D3 and take Iodine but she is strictly a 'doc knows best girl'.

She just had knee replacement after 2 knee surgeries that didn't work. Plus a recent gall bladder removal.

Hating to go thru another surgery may get her to try Iodine. I'm taking her a bottle of my high potency Lugol's.

with controversy,and r reluctant to try or learn about it,so they remain

i totally agree with your theory on iodine because i was one of them.....but i see a nutritionist and i decided to go on Lugols at his request. Thats why i joined this group, so i could understand what iodine was all about and how to deal with any uncomfortable side affects. A couple years ago i got idoral, and as soon as i started feeling bad, i "just knew" that iodine was not foe me....well, here i am 3 years later, still just as sick as i was then...so i realized i needed to learn more about it so i can begin to heal.

She is on the wrong form of D. D2 does nothing (as you have seen). Here is a whole foundation dedicated to the truth of Vit D http://vitamindfoundation.org/

Did the doctor check her PTH levels as well as calcium? Calcium alone is not the total picture.

Is the doctor checking 25 OH or Hydrox levels of vit d? He may be checking the wrong levels too as many do the 125 no the 25 and that is the wrong test.

You have a rare endo.

There are some that have issues with iodine but in most cases it is severe toxicity and not the iodine at all. I see so much sickness. Last week when I was in in Portland OR there were many street people all around me as I took my run. I could take one look at skin tone, hair and their all around body and see that they are so sick. It really really tugs at my heart to see such suffering. I want to help them all but sadly I cannot. So I do the best I can.

I think as a nation we have gotten so dependant on what the doctors tell us is right for us. Many many years ago there were people who practiced folk medicine and these were the ones that cared for the community with their herbs, homeopathy, mud baths and water treatments. I am studying the history of Naturopathy right now and it has really opened my eyes to the strong hold our medical profession has on us. If the doctor says "NO" then we don't think again. Sad.

Steph...this is Terri and you have already helped me soooo much and i thank you for it. I had a real hard time with the iodine and you told me about ATP Cofactors....and other things but the ATP is amazing at how much it helps.
