HI Marlena, was the mercury test Dr Flechas gave you a urine test? Did

you take any type of chelator as a part of this test? I would be shocked

as well, seeing as you never had amalgams. Just goes to show we get

mercury from many sources.

G/MI

Dr Flechas offers a toxic metals test along with the iodine and bromide loading tests ... The toxic metal results take a lot longer - I finally got them back today, and right now I am in shock. The reference range for Mercury is 2.19 and my Mercury was 47.47!In the past I have done hair tests for toxic metals and my mercury was never elevated. I have never had amalgams either, but in the past before I knew better I ate plenty of fish. Also my mother used to have amalgams and did when she was pregnant with me and nursing me and I've heard that we can get a lot of mercury passed on that way ... And of course much Mercury is simply unavoidable from the environment ...I read that iodine mobilized mercury out, but this is really amazing to me. I just did not expect it. I suppose it's good because it shows the mercury coming out - better out than in! But I'm concerned because I haven't been doing other mercury clean up along with the io

dine, which could be 1 explanation for why I still feel pretty bad on most days. At least I've been taking vitamin C, the other supporting nutrients, probiotics, and general detox stuff like UltraClear but now I will start chlorella asap ... and I'm thinking about MSM too. Any other ideas? I'm not sure if I should do another strong chelating agent ...Fortunately I was able to get my consultation with Dr Flechas for this Thursday. I'll report about what he says. There were some other concerns from my results - like my urine creatinine is too low and I also have high Thalliam and Tungsten, but not nearly as high as the Mercury. Does anyone know what I should do to raise my creatinine? Thanks,Marlena

Very interesting. Dr. A, B & F have seen these halides increase in output with iodine. Are you taking Selenium? How about Alpha Lipoic Acid. Both are great for binding to mercury. I took a Metagenics product that really helped me when chelating and we would do the DMPS Challenge tests (Yes I know some of you don't like this but I chose to do it). It was called Chloroclear. I would recommend it.

Thanks for your reply, Steph. I am taking 235mcg of selenium. Do you think I should double that? Also there are 50mg of R-Lipoic Acid in my Thorne detox multi and 25mg of Alpha Lipoic Acid in the Living Fuel supplement food I am currently taking. Do you think that is enough or should I add extra? I'll look into the Chloroclear too. Thanks,Marlena>> Very interesting. Dr. A, B & F have seen these halides increase in output with iodine. Thanks for sharing. What is the unit of measure?

I believe hair tests generally reflect blood levels of mercury, not

how much mercury is stored in the body.

Vaccines, including flu shots, often have mercury in them as well.

As suggests, alpha lipoic acid is considered a good chelator

for mercury. Unfortunately, my personal authority on mercury

chelation, Dr. Andy Cutler, recommends taking it at 3 hour intervals

to maintain a constant blood level. Not everyone does it that way

though. I've been taking it off and on for the past two weeks for a

few days at a time.

Dr. Cutler has a good reputation among some people and he doesn't feel

that chlorella or cilantro or sulfuric things like MSM work well as

mercury chelators. He's concerned that they stir up the mercury but

don't hold onto it tightly enough. That may not be an issue in your

case since your Hg burden is presumably low.

And personal experimentation is probably a good way to judge these things.

I'm not so sure that iodine can CHELATE mercury. They both have a +2

charge when in reduced form: Hg2+ and I2+. I think they COMPETE with

each other in the body, for instance in making thyroid hormones, just

as bromide and fluoride compete with iodide.

I've personally decided to rest from 50mg of iodine for a few days at

a time, and just take 12.5 mg during those days. I think maybe that

allows my kidneys to rest a bit.

I'm getting the feeling that that iodine is powerful stuff! No wonder

it was the medicine of choice in ages past.

But why do you say my burden is presumably low? I thought these results show it is high??Thanks for your thoughts!Marlena

I'm not sure if this is appropriate for this forum but I have been taking a

product called NCD...it is an acronym for Natural Cellular Defense and is made

of zeolites from volcanic rock....it is a natural chelator that is non offensive

to the rest of your body...it acts like a small cage and whisks out the mercury

and other stuff that doesn't belong there....you can get alot of information

from on her website called significant healing.com...........she will

also answer all questions and is quite informative.....I hope this

helps...........

I know that bentonite clay is a detoxifier. I took it in pill form and it initially caused bowel issues, but then was OK. You are right in that it is cheaper than the NCD which I use now.
