Guest guest
This is the hardest thing. And anytime I am in a group other than my usual immediate family, I focus on the people to the point where I forget even to think about what I'm eating. Guest guest
Most people seem to understand allergies. To not be lying you might just say the truth that for medical reasons you have to be very careful about what you eat. You don't have to go into detail. Guest guest
Two years ago, I fell off the diet at Thanksgiving and didn't get back on til about February. I felt terrible for months. Last year I stayed on the diet through the holidays and felt fine. This year the choice is easy. Last year I made myself some nuts sweetened with xylitol, which I'm assuming is neutral since it isn't listed. I didn't miss the desserts other people were having. Today I was thinking that dried figs are yummy enough to satisfy me. I cook on Thanksgiving and Christmas and I make sure to cook enough foods I can eat. Eating out, I skip the avoids that are obvious and take Deflect when I suspect I've had - or will be having - small amounts of avoids that aren't obvious. Guest guest
I always bring my own littel things, like speltbread, dried meat etc.... and tell people I'm allergic to wheat and other things they know by now and accept - and if they don't it's their problem love

I'm trying to plan ahead and need to cater for the need to eat every 3 hours due to insulin resistant diabetes issues. I think I need to have walnuts with me and a can of sardines for emergency though they are not exactly sweet scented in the wrong environment! What other non-perishable non-salty proteins can one take along for emergency? I suppose eggs would work okay too if one did not sit on them :-)) ......Irene -- Irene de Villiers, B.Sc; AASCA; MCSSA; D.I.Hom.
