Guest guest
Hi Dawn, I had a high Bp and raised HR when I took the right amount Of thyroid meds to make my other symptoms go, but I now take a mix of antihypertensive meds that have reduced my BP and pulse quite dramatically without side effects- which I had in spades with a full dose of a single BP med. Do you ever feel you are trying to juggle with too many balls with all the meds and symptoms. I know I do. How much fuss about BP seems to depend on the GP practice- ours is fanatical!! Subject: Re: Pulse rates Hiya hon I have had a high resting and exertional hr for a long long time even when undertreated on thyroxine I put it down to my weight, ashtma, hypertension, to be honest and the Dr has never said anything about it (but they never do do they?). I have a suspician it could be constricted veins and the need for my blood to circulate faster to oxygenate the body, but that is just an idea on my part and could be totally false. Hope you get a decent answer, I will be watching for it too. lotsa luv Dawnx ------------------------------------ TPA is not medically qualified. Guest guest
Hi ; Which BP med are you on ? My GP is muttering about trying me on some but I have been trying to bring it down with magnesium, with only limited success. Guest guest
What wise, advice, ! :-) I'm with on this one, Caz. You need to look at yourself as a whole. 89bpm seems very quick to me for your age. Has this just started? What's changed lately? And, do you do much exercise? I'm about 10 years older than you, I think I'm on the fit side (not as fit as I'd like to be yet btw) and my resting pulse is 70 - 75bpm (with T3/T4 therapy). About 10 years ago, I developed similar symptoms to you, but I had a very slow pulse (bradycardia). They discovered that I also had high BP. I was a much larger lady than I am now, mind ~ 5 stone heavier! But, I shifted the weight, over 11 months, and, with the odd blip, have kept the weight off. > I'd say the resting pulse 89 is on the quick side, but then I've > felt fine with it faster! Guest guest
You could try high dose CoEnzymeQ10 such as 300mgs and high dose Niacin (Vitamin B3). Don't go for the non-flushing Niacin though, this is not as effective. This helps a lot of people to lower their BP. Luv - Sheila Hi ; Which BP med are you on ? Guest guest
Hi ; Thanks for that, it is always best to go the the GP armed with info....no betablockers..... Before I started on thyroid meds I was mildly hypertensive and I have a strong family history of it. I have found that since starting the T3 my bp seems to have come down abit but the pulse remains high.. 85 to low 100's. I take quite alot of thyroid meds to feel well. 2gr. Armour + 75 mcg T3 as well and a load of supplements. I also take alendronic acid + adcal - D3 for osteopenia... I really don't want to take anything else... I rattle enough as it is. Kind regards Jane > > Hi Jane, > The problem is we don't all react the same. I got sick and dizzy > flushing on full dose hence the mix. ------------------------------------ > > TPA is not medically qualified. Guest guest
Oh yes exactly I do feel that I am juggling too many balls.. '' I don't think I can do over 3 grains anyway and I am still not feeling THAT well. Now not sure whether to carry on on 3 grains and see if I gradually improve over the months (giving it time) or whether to try lowering it and putting T3 on top. Do you think adding T3 will make the BP even higher and the HR increase? lotsa luv Dawnx

Guest guest
Hi Dawn, Who can say? our reactions to thyroid meds seem very individual sometimes. You've been poorly for a long time, personally I'd let it settle for a while, as if you do too many changes too quickly then you soon don't know if you are coming or going.
