Guest guest
Hi, I did go and had a fantastic time, thanks to Shelia and other organisers Freesia > > Hello everyone > > I was able to go to the TPA get together today for the lunch at Alfes and just thought Id give an update for folks that werent able to get there - I didnt get to the meal last night but understand that it went very well and today everyone was having a good time, (must have been around 60 people!) the lunch was fantastic and it was great to hear Dr Peatfield's and Dr Skinner's talks and answers to the questions. Afshin from International Pharmacy was there and he is a really nice guy who is very concerned about the customs charges! > > It would be great if more of us were able to get there for the next one wouldnt it? so I was thinking that if there are reasons why people couldnt get there (apart from being ill of course!) but that could be worked around maybe they would let me know? What I mean is, for example, my partner was working today so we couldnt go last night and I wondered if being on a Sunday would help some people to get there, or if being at the end of the kids' Easter hols that doesnt work for some - so let me know and hopefully we can get more of us together next time. > > Gill > Moderator >
Guest guest
Hi Gill, I couldn't make it as we have had 3 weddings and a 50th birthday party in the last 5 weeks. Last wedding next Saturday. So just too much for me to cope with. But I would have loved to have been there too. It all sounds very well organised and Sheila very kind to open her home to everyone. One idea could be to hold it in an hotel so people would be able to go and rest if they needed to in their room and it would only mean travelling to one place. I would think Saturday is the best day as anyone travelling far can arrive on the Friday or Saturday and stay until the Sunday and still get back for work on Monday. Just a thought though because I am fairly new to the forum and wouldn't want to upset anyone after all the hard work done to arrange it. Guest guest
Hi Dawn It would have been lovely to meet you today and hope you will get to the next one - or I will have to call for a cuppa the next time Im in Whitby!! You are going to be a first class moderator so please dont say that you feel inadequate - you are wonderful - I have been a very inadequate moderator recently as I havent been able to be around much recently, with one thing and another. So how could I or anyone think you are being lax - youve done a great job and will do. thanks for your comments about reasons for coming to the do's I will feed them in for next time - and really hope you will be able to be there then - would be lovely to meet you! Gill X thanks for letting us know. My reasons are purely sickness related for not being able to get to the get together Also this year my hubby is just in the process of having to clear his flat and needs my help with organisation and driving, as I am the only driver in the family. I am so hoping to be able to make it next year. The fact that you got in to moderate when I was supposedly at home makes me feel inadequate but I was up all night (unfortunately nobody keeps the hours that I do it would seem). Up late afternoon, down to old flat to pack, back up tea then on here and no messages left, ah well, hope you don't think I am being lax. Guest guest
> Hi Dawn, you are such a duffer - no one would ever in a million years think you are slack - everyone here supports each other and we all know that each of us have our limitations and dont feel too good some times - it honestly doesnt reflect badly on anyone. There was also plenty of notes about this weekend everyone being away - many people wait months to get to an Endo-PRAT who charges hundreds of pounds -so waiting a few hours for a question to be answered for free isnt so bad. Guest guest
I would have gone, but i wasn't sure if it was invite only or something? I have not been on this forum for that long, so maybe i missed the earlier posts which said how to book etc and whether it was open to all etc. Thanks Chris

Guest guest
Hi gill, distance , time, money and kids..Don't know how easter hols up here in Scotland tie in with down south as well..? And they differ from year to year as well . I know it would be brill if we could all meet in some sort of huge hall or something..Also had a thought as our membership grows that might be worth while considering branches in the future..? just a thought. Jill XX PS thanks for the tip, I switch foundations all the time, and funnily enough was thinking of using Chanel..it depends on how my skin is from day to day, sometimes illumanting ones draw attention to parts don't want drawn to..!! > > Hello everyone > > I was able to go to the TPA get together today for the lunch at Alfes and just thought Id give an update for folks that werent able to get there - I didnt get to the meal last night but understand that it went very well and today everyone was having a good time, (must have been around 60 people!) > > It would be great if more of us were able to get there for the next one wouldnt it? so I was thinking that if there are reasons why people couldnt get there (apart from being ill of course!) but that could be worked around maybe they would let me know? > > Gill > Moderator >
Guest guest
How about holding it on a caravan site, so that people could hire caravans for the weekend/week, which would be a cheap way of having a holiday, and for myself, somewhere I could go with my dogs too. Also then people could stay more than just the 1 or 2 nights if they wish, probably for a cheaper cost. I do realise that I am probably the only person with the dog requirement, but I could not go without taking my dogs one way or another, and cost is also an issue for me. Is there a convenient caravan park (which allows dogs as not all do) near Sheila? Also I would prefer it to be out of school holidays but nearer the summer, not May as I generally go away then anyway, but say late June? Nice long evenings then too. Val It would be great if more of us were able to get there for the next one wouldnt it? so I was thinking that if there are reasons why people couldnt get there (apart from being ill of course!) Guest guest
Yes we do , so true. I don't think of slimmer or percieved better looking people or richer as superior but I hate 'letting people down' I have this thing about pulling my weight and doing a good job, I used to agonise about work quite badly, so it is similar to the one with the slimmer people but in behaviour:) I suppose we of low cortisol and who become sensitive get that way for a reason, lol, angsting folks. lotsa luv Dawnx
Guest guest
Slimmer equals superior? Tut tut , that's not true you know. We have to try, if at all possible, to like ourselves as we are. A tough call these days, given the pressures we live under. But it all comes from within. Tee hee, perhaps that's my excuse anyway. Night, x > > I put myself down but in my mind if you know what I mean, i sometimes feel quite fat and a second rate citizen and look at other slimmer people and I see them as superior to me, I have been like that for years so its hard to stop myself so your not alone but we need to learn not to do it!!! > >
Guest guest
Good evening Dawn, I, for one, and probably represent many on this forum, am so grateful that you and others do spend your valuable time moderating. Goodness, I become anxious when low cortisol, so know that feeling. Just the fact that you agonise so much, probably means you work doubly hard. And then worry that you haven't worked hard enough! It's a vicious circle, I know it so well. Thanks from me. Relax and enjoy moderating. xx > > Yes we do , so true. Guest guest
Now heres an interesting thing, in the same way that I know something is interfering with my Armour because I crave Pork sausages, I also know that bouts of 'Self Condemnation' is also a sign things arent working thyroid hormone wise. It does not happen when all is fine - and so in the same way the 'depression' is a 'symptom' I wonder if these feelings are as well, cos that is three of us. I can assure you I have always been a very self confident person all my life so know that when I start to fret that I drank a friends orange juice before asking her when I was 9 !!!!! - you kinda know thats daft and there must be a reason. Guest guest
You can generally book for 1/2 of a week, which is taken to be either 3 nights Fri to Mon, or 4 nights Mon to Fri. If you book early enough this is generally quite cheap. Also you can go for 2 or 3 bedrooms to split the cost if people want to share. Guest guest
Perhaps somebody could arrange this in another part of the country, so those who can't make it up to Yorkshire could make it somewhere else. Any ideas? We did consider it in the summer, but there are an awful lot of people on holiday then.
