Guest guest
Yes what you had happen is common when doing iodine supplementing. Steph Iodine/Period Update I don't know who remembers but about a month ago i was worried because i'd started taking the Iodoral (after taking just some Iosol) and i was having some pretty intense pinching feelings down in my ovaries during my period back at the end of May. Then those feelings went away and i didn't have a period at all in June. (i'm 36). I'm scheduled to go to the gyn next month and low and behold i got my period last nite. So i only missed one month really - skipped the one that should have happened at the end of June and then didn't miss the one at the end of July - funny thing though is that i did not ovulate - i know this because i've been taking my basal temps for the past month and they've all been low. Now i'm not trying to get pg. or anything, but could it be that the iodine is starting to work on my ovaries and maybe that missed cycle was just my body adjusting itself, then this cycle was an anovulatory one (again still adjusting) and then maybe over the course of the next few months i'll actually see the ovulation also? I have not changed anything other than to take the Iodoral.
Guest guest
Hi : Just wanted to chime in here. I was not ovulating for many yrs. while I was still getting my monthly period. I never knew you could still get your period w/o ovulating until it happened to me. I don't know if it had anything to do with me being Hypo/Hashi's or not. Do you have any thyroid issues? Do you take your temps every month? Guest guest
This happened to me as well so when I finally got pregnant my Dr was shocked. I suspect I had hashi's before being dx'd with thyca. Guest guest
i have pcos so in general i don't ovulate every month - but since i've been taking metformin, i have been ovulating pretty regularly for the past 5 years - the iodine was the only difference that i made and i guess it's still working out of my system. I've been taking my basal temps to help me judge if i need more iodine or not - tanya Iodine/Period Updateiodine Date: Wednesday, July 29, 2009, 9:12 AM I don't know who remembers but about a month ago i was worried because i'd started taking the Iodoral (after taking just some Iosol) and i was having some pretty intense pinching feelings down in my ovaries during my period back at the end of May. Guest guest
you really don't - unless you temp or take ovulation predictor tests that would show your LH surge or you chart other fertility signs - but those can all be a bit misleading - if you are running a fever and are sick, if you aren't 100% sure what signs to look for, if the ovulation predictors don't work for you (they never worked for me even when i was ovulating - lol!) but yep, i learned going thru fertility issues 10 years ago that that can happen - i think i know way too much about how we can get pregnant - lol! But it is good news for those on here who don't ovulate and want to - the iodine does seem to help that over the course of a few months... tanya Re: Iodine/Period Update ,I never knew this until like six months ago, either! I always thought well if u have you're period u r ovalating! I was shocked,u can have periods and never ovulate! I even said this to my mom who's 69 and she never knew either! But also u can ovulate and not have periods.,so weird! So aside from temps, how does one know? I still find this confusing.
