You may want to check out the

website of Dr. Hoffman and/or contact him via email at his

website. He also has a popular radio show as well. I went to

see him once and he mentioned that sometimes those with Hashis have problems

with gluten and dairy and that omitting those items from the diet will often

result in a lowering or normalizing of thyroid antibodies. He does not

advocate a one size fits all approach to diet and in fact, for autoimmune

issues, he recommends a hunter-gather pre-neolithic diet -- ie organic animal

protein, veggies, nuts, small amounts of fruit. No dairy, no grains, no

sugar. But he advocates entirely different dietary regimes for

others. So it's never a one size fits all approach and I think that makes

the most sense. I know vegetarians that feel healthy, but such a diet

nearly killed me. Little did I know that my veggie diet loaded with soy,

cruciferous veggies and other potent thyroid disrupters was aggravating my

then-undiagnosed hypothyroidism. Dr. Hoffman himself used to be

a vegetarian when he was younger but now incorporates more animal protein in

his diet. Anyway,cutting wheat especially and all gluten grains in

general seems to help hypothyroids lose weight.

REgarding this wheat issue, I was under the 'impression' that once I lost my thryoid, my wheat allergy did not matter.

From what you are saying, it sounds like it does not matter, thryoid or not..??

It's a gut issue not a thyroid one. Your intestines (Villi) are affected negatively and for most people it kicks up inflammation.

This may sound odd to you,

but my naturopathic training of over seven years was largely devoid of training

related to thyroid function. This is not to say we did not study function and

interaction, and have an understanding of what the endocrine system does and

yada yada, but not of its extreme importance in the bodys function. My interest

was piqued, when I started to use to kelp to normalize readings in an energetic

test that I do on clients. Some of my clients just would not balance, and I

instinctively one day tried kelp to see what would happen. That changed my

outlook on thyroid function, because I then got more control of chaotic

imbalances when nothing else would help. This might be similar to what the

old-time MDs would do when nothing else worked. That was several years ago, but

I have been using kelp and dulse consistently to balance clients.

I stumbled on to this site,

because one of my clients who is very very sick, wanted my opinion of it. I

have taken an interest in this chat site is to learn more about thyroid

function, and I find the participants of it very interesting, because they

actually are going through thyroid dysfunction, and trying to address it. If you

perceive me to be an authority on thyroid function, I am not. Now that we’ve

had that discussion, let me scratch my head and see if I can make some

observations that may be helpful.

Regarding

“food allergies”, (and perhaps a myriad of other allergies) I have

found with clients that allergies are a symptom of an underlying condition.

When you have impaired digestion function (dysbiosis) which would include

everything in the aliementary canal from the mouth to the other end, when food

then is not properly digested, I believe it to go into the absorption section

of the aliementary canal, the small intestine, which may be compromised by

unhealthy bacteria, toxins, parasites, etc. and the small intestine says “what

the heck is this, I don’t recognize it, so I’m going to view it as

a foreign substance that’s not good for me and have a histimic reaction”.

One could make a joke and say that passing gas would be your small intestine

saying exactly that. On the other chat site that I alluded to, one of our

other premises that we were trying to prove or disprove was that GMO’s

may by their nature, have toxic effect on the body, because they have been

altered. Those may be two ways that the bodys digestive function may be skewed.

To answer your question, because

you do not have a thyroid, does not mean that you do not need the endocrine

function of the thyroid in your body. From the clients that I have had that

have had their thyroid removed, (first this may me want to scream, and then go

find the person responsible for it) they need more supplemental support

for their thyroid than someone that does have their thyroid. If you view the

said wheat as something that impairs digestion, for whatever reason, I would

say that the wheat allergy does indeed matter. Unfortunately, my view would be

that your system is compromised to start with, and introducing antigens further

drag you down.

After thinking about it, there really is no reason why the body would not react the same to it. Still kick up a 'histimine' reaction to the wheat.

I don't know why I would think that it does not matter since I lost my throid.. Sounds like a brain fog to me..
