It is specific to bromide. It is the chloride in the salt that binds to the bromide (BrCl) and carries it out through the kidneys from the blood.

I think it can help in general - I've read of one person doing it in

association with DMSA frequent low dose chelation for mercury, and I

have also used it for support during mercury detox rounds. I think the

salt also helps with exhausted adrenals, and it helps when I have pain

over the liver area as well.

There's a group for chelation of mercury. You should join. It's called:

The iodine helps - if you got through the post I did the other day with the cut and paste from e's book you'll see that his conclusion was that Potassium Iodide has an antidotal relationship to mercury - apart from bromide issues, one thing that needing/tolerating large doses of iodine could mean is that you have mercury toxicity. Here are a couple of groups that use the frequent low dose chelation method according to Andy Cutler. It's not needed by everyone, and doesn't suit everyone, but there is a lot to learn in these groups.
