Guest guest
My supp list is huge, as I have a few other problems I am also trying to fix besides hypothyroid/hashi's. I am overweight due to the hypo, currently a bit over 200lb at 5'9 " tall and 29 years old. I have been as high as 270lb. I have joint issues from this, as well as from having my 2 kids where I guess my weight plus relaxin hormone caused my pelvis and hips to permanently separate and loosen. It has been 2 years since I had my son and I still have pain when running very far. I take MSM for this (but not every day, I forget a lot about this one). The cayenne and turmeric (listed below) also double for this. I had gallstones and then gallstone pancreatitis from a botched flush late this past summer (a second flush got the acute attack over by moving the lodged stone, but now I have chronic pancreatitis that flares now and then). For that I take: turmeric (pain) (1 tbsp/day), chanca piedra (2 tsp/day), betaine HCL (TMG in HCL form) 650mg w/each meal, food enzymes w/each meal as well as eating nearly 100% raw during attacks though less so otherwise except fruit. I have hashi's/hypothyroid with depression and anxiety attacks and an inability to lose weight on more than 600 cals/day. For that I take: rhodiola (2tsp/day powder), ephedra (1 1/2tsp/day), forskolin (40-60mg/day). These are helping me lose at a rate of 1-2lb/week or a little less. Sometimes I go weeks without losing even with all this and a calorie restricted but highly nutritious diet, especially if I have " normal " days where I eat as much as most healthy people...Little indulgences, sigh. I have a family history of cancer (every single member over 40 pretty much) and poor circulation. For that I take cayenne (2tsp/day) and ginger (1tsp/day, mostly to cut the nausea from the hit of cayenne). I also eat a lot of berries/antioxidant rich food and take melatonin, 3mg before bed around 10pm, though this is new this week after I read some very interesting stuff about melatonin and cancer. I am REALLY trying to fix my sleep schedule, which has for years been seriously messed up with me going to bed sometimes at 3am for weeks at a time. I am absolutely sure that this has been a big contributor to my problems. The herbs I usually make a slurry out of rather than a tea, and gulp down a half dose twice a day, except the ephedra, which I take 1tsp in the morning and 1/2 tsp in the afternoon due to dosage and stimulation effects and having to take it w/coffee. The herbal slurry tastes special, lemme tell ya.I also take Coenzyme B-Complex caps (1/day) ( http://www.vitacost.com/Country-Life-Coenzyme-B-Complex#IngredientFacts ), SE Methylselenocysteine 400mg/day usually (800mg yesterday), Vit E, Vit D (5000iu/day), Vit K, Cod liver oil (1 tsp/day), fish/krill oil, Citracal Plus, Mag oxide (when I get heart flutters or cramps, which is several times a day), MSM (sporadically), Lecithin (w/the oily supps), niacin 250mg (not every day, afraid of overloading w/the Coenzyme B-Complex caps), TMG 650mg 1x/day, Lugol's 23 drops of 2% (to equal 50mg at 2.2mg/drop). I take baths with epsom salts and sea salts every other day or so. I put iodine tincture liberally on owies, which always have a fair number of because I heal very slowly. Yeah, that's a lot. My rationale is though that if it all helps me get well, I won't have to take but a small fraction of these long term and the inconvenience and production it makes every day will be worth it. With that many though, it is certainly possible, maybe even probable that I got something wrong. I am trying to learn more about interactions and splitting doses.. not sure what to take when, sometimes I take it all at once (except the herbs) at any time of day. Any input appreciated. I am thinking about short water fasts but unsure how to fit supplements with that.. or if I should. Maybe twice a week, and take no supps or only select supps that day... hrm. Again, any input appreciated.I've also joined the YMCA and am trying to make it down there 5x/week.That has been epic fail these past couple of weeks, but I will keep trying and reminding myself and trying to find the energy and time for it... I will do that more, and walk more outside when ti is not cold and rainy out. Hope ya'll are having a great day. Lovely and sunny here in SW VA, USA. Time to go outside.Sincerely,EllieOn Sun, Dec 6, 2009 at 2:16 AM, cheryl_b_1 <mossyforrest@...> wrote: Hi Ellie, What all supps are you taking ? Perhaps you need more (or less) of something? Guest guest
Whoops, the SE Methylselenocysteine should have read mcg, not mg.EllieOn Sun, Dec 6, 2009 at 1:07 PM, Nuss <cuarrech@...> wrote: SE Methylselenocysteine 400mg/day usually (800mg yesterday),
Guest guest
And I forgot to list vitamin C.. I take that liberally. I put it in food and just take small spoonfuls of it in lemon or lime water drinks. Some days I'm sure I go well over 10,000mg with it that way, some days I have less. Guest guest
I agree with everything has suggested and told you about bromide. It sounds like you are very toxic and salting with food isn't good enough. You need to purposefully supplement. Re: Developing a goiter on right side to me your symptoms point to high bromide levels. the emotionality, and the problems with normal situations for example. the higher iodine dosage is another sign - for many people it does take a lot of iodine to make the body detox from bromide, but it seems like starting with about 37,5mg and above a lot more bromide gets released to the blood, then with iodine dosages below. to detox the bromide, simply stopping iodine won't help much. it takes too long for the bromide to get out of the body, the only solution that works in this case is salt loading. the more symptoms, the more salt loading and water you do need, its as simple as that. just adding salt to your food won't help much, I am sorry.actually, it might be that with enough salt loading your thyroid swelling will go away. I know, it might not taste like champaign... btw, if you reach the maximum salt loading dosage(with a lot of water) for 5 days and the problems are still present, you can pretty much rule bromide as your problem out. when I was heavy detoxing, I took 10g unrefined salt a day, together with a lot of water, and I could feel the difference in my emotions and symptoms.for the mag oxide, the stomach acid is not enough, I'm afraid. max oxide is THE worst magnesium, because your body can only utilize a bit of it.one, maybe 2 cups of coffee are ok, but the ephedra will most certainly cause you emotional problems in the long run. the l-tyrosine helps repleting dopamine and (nor)adrenaline and help with withdraw symptoms. glad to hear that you still get an adrenaline shock when your kids are in danger, but you need noradrenaline, adrenaline, and cortisol in your body intact even for "normal day situations". they interact with each other, and once you mess it up with ephedra, you will be way less stress tolerant because you can not produce enough cortisol anymore. and the lack of cortisol, dopamine and (nor)adrenaline, which are all negatively affected by ephedra will cause anxiety and panik attacks in the long run. and to be honest, the thermogenic effect of ephedra is not high enough to risk these effects. so even if your problems right now are not ephedra related, they will most likely be in the future. hard interval training twice or three times a week, no carbs in the evening will definately work better then ephedra. If you think you feel more "normal" under ephedra, then you could have general problems with your catecholamines, but you should address them in another way (by taking the precursors to dopamine, (nor)adrenaline and the cofactors). that will work much better in the long run. as far as I know only selenium up to 400mcg in long term usage is considered save.good luck and keep us posted!alex> > >> >> > Hey there,> >> > unfortunately I do not have a lot of time at the moment but there are some> > things I wanted to tell you:> >>
