The salt loading is just for immediate symptoms. Say this

morning you took iodine and all the supplements and you got a terrible headache

You do this whenever you have detox symptoms. But if your

detoxification pathways are clear, you won’t experience detox symptoms because

it will clear out quickly on its own. So you can detox without symptoms if your

pathways are clear.

It is generally recommended that if you have to salt load 5 days

in a row, you need to back down on the iodine and take steps to clear up your detox

pathways.

Yes, detox can take weeks, months, years. Don’t confuse the salt

supplementing with salt loading. See my post of earlier today from the “New

member files†that lists both things. They are different!

Subject: salt loading

I'm confused about how long and how often one

does the salt loading. I read somewhere that you shouldn't do it every day, but

rarely find a site that says anything about how long.

Can detox take weeks? months? because in these cases, wouldn't you need to

continue salt loading?

I did ask this once before but didn't get a reply.   When I tried salt loading, with unrefined Celtic sea salt (greyish coloured) I never started the copious urinating.   I just got bloated and felt sicker and sicker.   I'd started in the morning and kept going every half hour through the day until I stopped the salt loading by about 4pm because I was feeling so bad and I hadn't started the urinating.    I had a lot of water retention.

Does anyone know why this was?I just seemed to slowly release all the water I drank in the evening and during the night.I'd like to try it again but this put me off.

Did you drink just plain water? Do you drink enough water normally? You should not hold onto it.

The water I drank was rainwater from our tank.   We live in the country and have no nearby contaminants such as aerial spraying.   I might have had other drinks such as dandelion coffee in between the water.   Should I have drunk only water while salt loading?

I think I drink enough water usually.   About 1.5 litres a day of plain water, more when it's hot.    That's all I drink plus a few dandelion coffees or liquorice tea, since I weaned myself off normal tea.

Hi ,I rarely post here but I though I would reply to your email. If I were in your shoes I would avoid making myself sick and feeling awful if I could. I really don't believe excessive suffering brings us any closer to health. What you describe is, to me at least, a sure sign that salt loading is not working for you. Maybe it is your kidneys that

could not process all the water/salt or there was another reason. I am sure people will make many suggestions, but i would always listen to my body and not push it till I feel horrible and bloated. There are many people on this side that don't use salt at all or use it in moderation (myself included) and are successful with detox. Don't give up on Iodine though, maybe just decrease your doses, so you don't have to do any salt loading. My own experience with iodine is only a short one (about a month): I had many detox symptoms to start with, but when - after one week - I started feeling really awful, sluggish, tired and depressed, I just stopped taking it for a couple of days and then re-started but on smaller doses. I wasn't able to drink a glass of salty water without

gagging, so have just been putting a pinch of salt in every glass I drink. I am still detoxing but slowly. And I can see many great effects like improved skin colour, infections disappearing, tooth abscess shrinking and my hair looking much better. I also feel warmer and have more energy. And this is only from a few drops of Nascent iodine a day and all the other nutrients. In fact, I started feeling even better a couple of days ago when I added vit B2 and 3 to my supplements. I also place some iodine on my skin, instead of taking all of it internally - and this seem to work better for me.I am not sure what your condition is and whether you really need to be detoxing so rapidly, so you need to judge that:)From: Cochrane <juliemc9@...>iodine Sent: Fri, 15 October, 2010 1:19:16 PMSubject: Re: salt loading

do you also take thyroid meds? I was never thirsty, couldn't pee

much, and had edema until I got thyroid meds. it was amazing to me

to finally be able to sweat and pee on Armour.

Hi ,

I have a somewhat similar experience in

that when I salt load and drink loads of water in the

price.

For me, I think it is heart/lymph and

possibly kidney/adrenal issues as the water seems to

absorb into my tissues, especially lower legs and

ankles. But I'm still mystified.

I have been on the iodine protocol for just

over a year now. It has helped me enormously, but the

salty water followed by lots of plain distilled water

has never had the reaction I had hoped for and results

in horrible edema (until the following morning).

If anyone else has any ideas, I would be

very grateful.

I wasn't on any thyroid meds when I did the salt loading.   I did go on to NDT and got up to 4 grains with only a little improvement and then found I had a big Reverse T3 issue so have just started on T3 only today.   I've tended to drink a lot of water for quite a while now but don't think it's excessive thirst.
