I will love to be rejected on my following logic because I am a fan of iodine. But my logical brain argues as follows: When iodine can kill bacteria, viruses, fungus, yeast, how come its is said to be beneficial to human cells?

Is it because our cells need it but these little organisms don't? Or we should take to this logic: Excess of everything is bad. The Lugol's drop, good for our cells, is too much for the little creatures mentioned above.

Please guide my thinking. I would just say that the body has other ways of dealing with foreign

organisms. I suspect that the lymph and immunity systems need iodine

to be healthy and do their work effectively. Since iodine is an agent

of apoptosis, they probably need it to kill what needs to be killed.

Don't ask me how it works.

I will say that our friendly bacteria in the gut will also be destroyed by iodine. But our body needs it. In fact every cell needs iodine. I think balance is the "mantra": Not too much, not too little. -------------

This is a very good question, and here is my understanding. All oxidants like iodine, ozone, h2o2, etc. are oxygen loving and attract oxygen for the purpose of oxidation. Good bacteria and cells are aerobic or oxygen loving . Bad bacteria and cancer cells, etc. are oxygen hating and are called anerobic. So oxidants kill anerobic bacteria and cells by drawing oxygen to themselves like a fire draws oxygen to itself to burn the wood. Oxidants are the catalyst in this natural biological process of oxidation. So this doesn't bother oxygen loving cells and bacteria and actually supports our health as long as it doesn't get out of hand like can happen in any fire. That's where the anti-oxidants come in that we hear so much about. They control the fire and make it manageable. So we need both in sufficient quantities to allow the body's innate intelligence to do its job. I have only heard of one substance that can act as both an oxidant and anti-oxidant in the body, and that is iodine. Iodine is like the main precursor to health as it can become whatever we need to maintain balance. IT's the spiritual mineral, the mineral with the highest atomic weight of any substance known to be used by the human body.

In that case, wouldn't a daily pinch or two of Acidolphilus rectify the situation--taken later in the day from when the Iodine was ingested?

Wow! thanks for that explanation, it makes perfect sense.

This is way off topic, but I just want to mention that I discovered

that at least one Hebrew word for iodine is Yod. Yod is the 10th

letter of the ancient Hebrew alphabet and means " hand of God " . It is

the root of all the letters. I see it as the means of planting the

Seed of the Ideal Image in every cell of our bodies. So put that in

your visualizations for radiant health!

here's my conclusion:

the body is intelligent enough to do what's necessary to maintain health if given enough of the basics of which minerals are the most basic of all. The body knows iodine and knows how to use it so it's not going to allow it to go into the colon if that is counterproductive to health. So it is probably absorbed prior to the colon if appropriate. Did you know that the body produces h2o2 internally ? Yes it produces this wonderful substance all by itself from hydrogen and oxygen and then uses it to kill bacteria or whatever just like we use the h2o2 we buy at the store. They say that our cells have consciousness. Consciousness is not only in the brain. If we allow the cells to do their job with proper basic nutrients and minimal interference, they can do the job much better than our intellect.

Thanks for the explanation, . Now, i do not have to be too conscious if we take too much acidic or alkaline food. We take include iodine providing sea vegetables. If my ears don't ring/tinnitus, there is not much metal in the seaweed i bought and finish the pack and buy the same brand all the time. If does, then i go eat plenty of cilantro with cashew nuts and coconut oil (make a paste) and stay away from that particular brand.
