Guest guest
Armour Thyroid, USP was never formulated to be taken sublingually - they were designed to be swallowed as are the present Armour tablets - it was a happy accident that we found we could take them sublingually. Just swallow them at least an hour away from any food or drink. It matters not also that they crumble when you try to cut them. Our thyroid doesn't put out the exactly amount of thyroid hormone at any particular hour of the day, so if you don't get a good clean cut, take the rough dose and the rest later on. Forest have had to reformulate the tablets because of problems with the sell by date and this is what they have come up with - I understand it has been very difficult for them to even come up with this formulation, and as they work for me, I will not be asking them to reformulate them again. We have already been almost a year without them and this caused tremendous worry. I am just pleased they are all back again in all strengths. However, you are free to write and complain if you feel they could do something - but do you really think they will change this after all this time. You can take Nature Throid and Westhroid if these agree with you better than Armour, but they are not designed to be taken sublingually either. InHousePharmacy I believe is fully out of stock. Most buy their Armour from International Pharmacy. Sheila Just received some Armour Thyroid (one grain) to find they are the new formulation. Almost impossible to take sublingual and when it comes to cutting the tablets, they tend to crumble. I note that others have found the same problem. On visiting Forest website to try and contact them to complain, I found they do not make it easy, it would seem the only way is to telephone or write. However I recomend changing to Nature Throid as they are better to take sublingual, cut easily, even into quarters and are cheaper from Inhouse Pharmacy with no extra charges for the One Grain. I ask because i got a batch in April and have been gradually feeling more depressed as the weeks go on and my mental health has been fantastic since i went onto Eltroxin and Armour so i'm really worried. I also cant be bothered being around people and am very tired when i get home from work and feel i have nothing left, energywise,to do things for myself which bring me joy and thats not a good place to be.I really thought i'd said goodbye to anxiety & depression but here we go again!!! Is it a coincidence or not?
Guest guest
Hi Cherwyn If it's any comfort, should there be anything amiss with the new formula of Armour, the FDA and the USP will be very quickly on to it. Forest would not be allowed to continue to manufacture a drug that was causing such adverse reactions and actually causing hypothyroid symptoms again. Has anybody sent in a 'Yello Form' to the DoH. Anybody who has an adverse reaction to any drug should do this, that is what the yellow card scheme is for. You are absolutely correct in keeping all options open at this stage and if everything else is in order and you have tried different thyroid extracts (or at least, the old Armour) then you must contact both your doctor and secondly Forest pharmaceuticals on your own behalf. What are the new ingredients in this new Armour that could be causing the problem. I know somebody has said it is absorbed better with some sugar - but not sure why. There was no explanation as to why from them although there are various theories on lists. It's obvious when you have it, it tastes like chalk instead of sweet. Guest guest
we have not had any trouble at our house on new armour...myself and 2 kids take it...the main issue is that it does not dissolve as easily or cut as easily as a result we may have had to increase our dose a bit since we dont get clean cuts all the time...but so far so good..crossing our fingers! From: christine99723 <christine.ak@...>Subject: New Armouriodine Date: Sunday, July 5, 2009, 10:33 PM I feel great right now! I finally thought I had everything straightened out with iodine and the supplements, even the vit C and magnesium which gave me 8 months of problems, a gluten free diet is what really helped me be able to feel good and make me feel i was finally on the right track with the iodine. I have felt better this summer then I have since I don't know when, years and years. I have been reading about the problems the new Armour is causing people. I have one day left of my old bottle and am considering just asking for a new script for Nature-throid. My question is should I even bother trying the 180 new Armour and seeing what it will do to me or just toss them out and get the other. I have been on Armour for 23 years and am not ready to be a test case for the new formula or am I just over reacting? Thanks for any advice from anyone, sure I have great insurance but I really don't think right now I want to have more problems of any kind. Guest guest
I seem to be doing ok with the new Armour, especially since I stopped taking it sublingually but instead orally. At first (taken sublingually) there was a noticeable difference in that for the first time in eons I was getting hot flashes like crazy. I also experienced the start of hair loss again and terrible afternoon fatigue. My eyes felt so heavy, it was like the eyeball no longer fit inside the eye socket! However, since taking the pills orally and doing so at a very early hour in the A.M. (around 4:00 a.m.) so as to not conflict with breakfast or vitamins, I seem to be on track again. Now, having said that, I just received my shipment of " Armour " as compounded by Bayview Pharmacy in Rhode Island. We shall see how I do on these. I am hopeful that I won't notice any changes. I have no idea what my numbers may be. I had blood work done not quite a year ago but the doctor ordered only the TSH and nothing else. I didn't even care as I just wanted the prescription for what I'd been taking as that seemed to work. I'm going to be seeing a new doctor in a month and I shall see what she has to say about blood work and what changes I might need to make. The new doctor is supposed to be a holistic doctor but still an M.D. My fingers are crossed that she can help me. Ideally I would love to get weaned off any and all thyroid drugs and not be at the mercy of the government, Big Pharma, or the AMA. Guest guest
I haven't been feeling that great so I did the thyroid testing which seems to say that " new " Armour is working. I thought my hormones might be the problem but I am way worse off when I lower them. I only lasted 24 hrs on progesterone alone but maybe I didn't take enough. I missed the estrogen. the only thing I am doing differently is taking fermented CLO and butter oil chocolate cream flavored. maybe I need more selenium--- I get 200mcg but I think it's selenomethionine. Guest guest
--That is wonderful that you are feeling great! more often that not we hear on these sites of everyones(including myself)problems w/mes,suppluments,etc. it is encouraging to heare someone talk of ther progress,I don't get to see that very often. in terms of sitching to other dosscated thyroid meds i think u will have a problem finding them. i am currently on westhroid which is made by the same company as naturthroid.i cannot find it anywhere in my town or i this country for that matter. i currently have 1 month supply left and then my dr. has written a script for my dessicated thyroid meication to be compounded at my local pharmacy. some people have done just fine on the new armour formulation, others have had problems.so i think it's a crap shoot, but i do think u will have a problem finding any dessicated thyroid meds, unless it is compounded at a compounding phrmacy. good luck and glad to here your doing so well ,it gives some of us hope that we too will continue to do better. michelle - In iodine , " christine99723 " <christine.ak@...> wrote: > > I feel great right now! > > I finally thought I had everything straightened out with iodine and the supplements, even the vit C and magnesium which gave me 8 months of problems, a gluten free diet is what really helped me be able to feel good and make me feel i was finally on the right track with the iodine. Guest guest
Yes, same dosage. I have been on, what seems to be a rather weird dosing schedule, but I guess it works well enough going by how I feel. I have 30 mg pills. I take one pill on day 1 and two pills on day 2; then 1 pill next day and 2 pills next alternating back and forth. I have felt ok doing that but I suspect I could be a whole lot better. I have not had any *real* blood work (free T3/4 or antibodies) done - maybe ever. I don't know if any doctor that I've been to has done more than the TSH. My health has not been " perfect " and I suspect adrenal fatigue. Still, I've been grateful to have gotten Armour prescribed. My new compounded 'Armour' - same dosage, arrived yesterday which I took this morning. So far, so good.GiniKMI'm not weird, I'm giftedThoughts become things... choose the good ones! Do not attempt to replace this like-for -like or else there is every chance you will go mega hyper. If you need guidance then this forum will help you. You can order 'Thyroid' (Armour) from Value Pharmaceuticals. Go to 'Internet Pharmacies' in the Files section and look there. Or look under 'Armour' . This is proving to be a very good and safe replacement product for Armour.Ask Sheila L.> > > Subject: Re: New Armour> > > > > Hello Sheila - I have been unable to get any so have ordered something called Cytomel from Mexico - just hope it suits my needs! > > > > Rayner> > > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------> > > > TPA is not medically qualified. Am unable to obtain Armour Thyroid from www.internationalpharmacy.com (have been using them for approx 18 mths) due to recent shortage and, although they say they will be able to supply Nature-Throid shortly (which I'm quite happy to try - or any such natural dessicated thyroid product) - they are restricting purchases to 1 bottle (100 x 1 grain). Guest guest
Hi You can buy the Erfa (Canadian) 'Thyroid' from the following pharmacy http://www.valuepharmaceuticals.com/Armour-Thyroid.php They sell generic Armour. It is made by Erfa in Canada and is simply called ‘Thyroid’. On the on-line form just tick 'no prescription required' and nothing more. They will accept your c/c payment. This 'Thyroid' is very similar to the 'old' formulae Armour. You can also buy the generic 'Thyroid-s' which also has an excellent reputation without a prescription from the following pharmacies http://www.edrugnet.co.uk/showprice.asp?name=Thyroid-s & bysearch=ok & Go.x=12 & Go.y=8 Generic Armour - 'Thyroid-s' andhttp://www.1drugstore-online.com/showprice.asp?name=thyroid & bysearch=ok & Go.x=0 & Go.y=0 Selling generic Armour. The " Thiroyd " (note foreign spelling) works out at less than 10p per grain if you buy the large tub (1000 tabs) . Some say the potency wears off quicker than Armour so try spreading it out in 5 doses daily. Others have given it excellent reports Hope this helps Luv - Sheila For those of you who are trying to buy Armour Thyroid and unable to find a source at the moment, please will you contact me. > Luv - Sheila > Hi Sheila Help!
