Guest guest
My daughter has all the symptoms of " mono " , with very painful & hugely swollen neck glands. I gave her some Iodoral to take because I read that iodine was good to fight viruses and specifically mono. She took 50 mg iodine this morning. However, her doctor gave her a prescription for an antibiotic (novo- lexin or called cephalexin) which she started tonight. It does not appear to be a flouride based antibiotic like Cipro. Can she continue on the Iodoral while on the antibiotic? If so, can she take 50 mg with it? I will call the pharmacist tomorrow too adn ask, but I wanted to know if anyone here had used an antibiotic while on iodine. I also tried to do a search on the drug interaction, but didn't find what I needed. Thanks you all, I really appreciate this group. Sincerely, Kathy Lapp in Calgary

Guest guest
Hope the doctor also ordered a blood test to check for mono - monotreated with antibiotics can result in extensive skin rashes. The antibiotics won't help unless there is a bacterial infection. Olive leaf extract can be helpful because it works as an antiviral. Guest guest
Kathy.... I've not read any contraindications on keflex and iodine. However, if your daughter is fighting a virus, Neem and Reshi are good for this. Neem has anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Reshi stimulates the immune system. We've used Neem successfully several times for viruses in the throat and neck that simply wouldn't go away by themselves. In my case, I had a cold that just settled in my throat and neck for about 5 weeks and wouldn't go away. I started on 6 capsules each of Neem and Reshi every 4-6 hours and by day 3, I was coughing up green mucous and feeling much better.
