Guest guest
This is all new to me. I read this and now wonder if I could have one of these as my son has spina bifida, which is a neural tube defect. I have never tested high for homocystein, but I still wonder. /MI Methlylene Tetra Hydro Folate Reductase. Guest guest
You don't have to have high homocystein. It is the C677T defect that is the homocystein related defect. The A1298C defect is the one that relates to cancer, Alzheimer's, schizophrenia and more. I have the second defect - homocystein is fine. Re: Re: Iodine for kids > This is all new to me. Guest guest
I guess I need to go read some more! I thought the homocystein level is high in the one for neural tube defects. How did you come to find out you have the A1298C defect? How do you combat it or can you? /MI You don't have to have high homocystein. It is the C677T defect that is the homocystein related defect. Guest guest
You may be right on neural tube defects. I was just saying that having an MTHFR defect does not mean you will have homocystein issues. It is only related to the C667T defect and not to the A1298C. Guest guest
I wasn't prompted. Dr. Brownstein has started to do this with his thyroid patients - started with the ones like me that were resistant to treatments / effectiveness. You wouldn't know to ask for it.
