Guest guest
As an on/off long-time depression sufferer I second the veto on SSRI's. Most depression is actually NOT due to low serotonin, it could be the opposite. For a long time I "knew" this intuitively because I kept having bad reactions to SSRIs, they also gave me insomnia and to me that was an oxymoron, depression and anxiety made it hard for me to sleep so something that remedied that should've re-established a sound sleep pattern. Then I found the book "Lights Out: Sleep, Sugar and Survival" by T.S. Wiley and Bent Formby, PhD and I knew I'd been right all along. If the link doesn't work for any reason just go to http://books.google.com and enter the title in the search bar and look up page 100 (under chapter 6 entitled "It's All In Your Head", subtitle "Zombies") and you'll see what I mean.I know you have already received excellent recommendations here but by experience (after reading extensively about it and using it for many years) the most fast acting supplement to help depression, and particularly anxiety, is magnesium. Here's a webpage with information about Magnesium and Depression; there's tons more useful info there so take your time in reading all you can. It is, however, only one example, there are many other websites where you can find similar information if you'd like to do your own search and it's mentioned in many nutrition books.Magnesium is very deficient in the American diet and it's not always well absorbed orally, especially not mg. oxide, avoid it if possible or take only on an empty stomach as it will neutralize stomach acid. Other choices are mg. citrate, orotate & aspartate but by far the best way to get magnesium for people who are taking iodine is by using "magnesium oil" (mg. chloride) transdermally, it gets into your bloodstream only minutes after rubbing it in. For an inexpensive source of mg. oil visit http://www.health-and-wisdom.com/, there's quite a bit of information there too and testimonials so you may like browsing there for a while first.I was part of a mg. oil group that's now mostly inactive but one of the major contributor, Mark Sircus, Ac., OMD (that's I believe Accupunturist and Oriental Medicine Doctor) said it was the best companion for iodine therapy and very helpful during detox. Anyone can still join and read the old posts and the many useful articles in there so I'm giving the link here: Magnesium For Life .Best wishes,Raquel>> Hi There,> > I have just started an SSRI for anxiety and depression. Guest guest
Actually ferritin is high at approx. 168 I think. Need to address this soon. Tried IP6 for a while which helped a bit but will probably need to do more in the near future. > > > > I am taking vitamin D3, magnesium and B6 plus bilingual B12 due to low levels if not supplemented. > > Is ferritin OK? Guest guest
Good to know! Thank you, Gigi > > i don't know whether you should or not - but i'm on zoloft and am in the process of coming off of it - i haven't had any weird effects and i've taken them together for over 2 months now - i'm coming off the zoloft because of the excess sweating that i get from it - i'd rather deal with being a little anxious versus being soaked w/sweat in 50 degree weather - lol! > > tanya > > SSRI's and iodine > > > Hi There, > > I have just started an SSRI for anxiety and depression. Tried IP6 for a while which helped a bit but will probably need to do more in the near future. High ferritin can be caused by hypothyroidism and by inflammation. Mine was 200 until I had an infected finger and was on antibiotics for a few weeks. Then my ferritin dropped to 19, revealing why I was getting no results from NTh or T3 only. So I would suggest a CRP to see if there is inflammation present. And an iron panel, with TIBC to double check iron levels. Did you ever to any of those? Low ferritin makes everything impossible. And I made mine worse by listening to all the people screaming about iron overload and started donating blood to get mine down. I got it down alright. Guest guest
Thanks Dorothy, I did get an iron panel and it looked good. I also got a sed rate recently which was only at 2 but neutrophils were above range. I'm getting those rechecked soon. The NP said not to worry to mucha bout the neutrophils since my sed rate was low. She also knew about fluoroquinolone toxicity and said they could be high from that. I did have a slightly elevated liver enzyme which is normal now and also have issues with liver cysts. I have a new one which I need to get checked again soon. Otherwise i have always had a small one that has never gone away but has not gotten bigger. So maybe that has something to do with the high ferritin. Maybe after I get the reverse T3 gone then everything will right itself. Think I'll take T3 indefinitely though. Thanks Dorothy, Gigi > > > > Actually ferritin is high at approx. 168 I think. Guest guest
Yes, I know that. I think it’s a different form than the toothpaste/toxic waste kind. The reason they did all those studies to find out fluoride’s effect on the teeth was because one type of fluoride is found naturally in some water that is actually good for you in trace amounts. However, what they put in toothpaste is a completely different thing and is the toxic waste version. I’m not certain of what version is in Florinef, but since there are warning labels on toothpaste not to ingest it, I don’t think even the FDA would put that version in a pill. (But I could be wrong!) Even if it was the toxic version, I have to say that Florinef has saved me. I had been taking Cortef and T3 for a couple of months and my temps were still low and I still felt bad. When I ramped up to the full dose of Florinef I felt great and my temps shot up! I really think it was the missing link for me. I do have low aldosterone, and I know that Florinef is a synthetic version of that, but it’s one of only 2 things I take that are not natural or bioidentical. For me to function, it’s worth it. Although I really don’t think it’s the same type of Fluoride. I’m going to research it! Thanks for the warning. I’d rather be told 1000 times, than never to have heard it before! Boron will clear fluoride out of the body making iodine therapy more effective. Raquel > > > > > > > Hi There, > > > > > > > > I have just started an SSRI for anxiety and depression. Guest guest
Hi , Let me know what you find out about the flourine in flourinated drugs like your florinef. I am apprehensive about the flourine in the zoloft I started as I was already very damaged by a flouroquinolone which also have flourine in them. Some people argue that flourine is different than flouride but I'm not sure that's true. Gigi > > > > > > > > > Hi There, > > > > > > > > > > I have just started an SSRI for anxiety and depression. Guest guest
I realized you might've heard it already but since I didn't know, I thought I'd mention it just in case as there are others reading the same posts who may not know. And even if it's the "good" kind we must not forget that too much of anything is not good (and we already know why fluoride is kind of at the top of the list of the "not" list. This falls into the same category of "I don't know" so skip it if you already do: Do you consume enough salt (of the "good one...)? Salt intake must be high when aldosterone production is low during adrenal exhaustion...Raquel> > > > > > > > > Hi There,> > > > >> > > > > I have just started an SSRI for anxiety and depression. Guest guest
Oh yes… definitely too much of anything can be bad for sure.  I just know for me that Florinef really got my temps up and stable and made me feel so much better.  I don’t want to be on it forever, but until I get my adrenals rested I’ll take it. I need to get my aldosterone tested again soon. It’s been nearly a year since my last test, so hopefully my aldosterone is up and I can wean off the Florinef. I do take salt. 1 ½ tsp Redmonds is what I’m up to now. Thanks for the reminders!
