There are several ways to search for gray literature. The approach most researchers use is to contact the listed researchers directly and seek from them the texts, results, and data about terminated/completed trials.

Others would be to search for conference repositories. Conferences are often places where researchers present prelimianry data but then either they do not follow up on them or forget to publish or just do not publish. if the conference proceedings provide enough evidence, go with it. If not, go back to step one, ie, contact the authors in the first place.

The third place to look for is specific journals that publish negative studies. There are quite a few journals now that publish only negative studies. I suggest you search the archives of this discussion group to identify posts where you can find such a list.

Hope this helps,Arin

Dear Members, I am just curious about clinical trials that are registered on clinical trial registries like www.clinicaltrials.gov, and for some reason terminated or completed with unsuccessful results. Is there a way to access results of these type of studies.

I would be glad if anybody with such experience would throw some light on this issue.  Best regards, Dr Sreekanth Gattu, MD, CPI (ACRP)Hyderabad.
