Guest guest
How in the world did you find out your hep c was dormant in 2002 and how do you know its still dormant and what is dormant??? Is there a load number you have? I know what dormant means, but is it non detectable??? I too have been in the methadone program for a year now, maintaining at 170mg per day and doing fine thank god for that. I assume the methadone goes along ways in the pain from the hep c so I will stay on it for awhile, maybe decrease a bit but thats a big maybe. Ifin it ain't busted I don't be looking to fix it. How be your ast and alt and that kind of stuff? Sorry if I got in the middle of the movie here but I am just reading posts from you and don't know your history, is why I am asking all these questions that maybe others here already know, but humor me if you can. Thanks HUGH
Guest guest
I've been an addict for about 6-7 years using IV drugs.I'm in recovery now, being clean for 7+ years on the methadone program. In October of 2002 I was diagnosed with HepC and the doctor was getting me ready for the Interferon injections infact I've gotten a box of the med the day I found out that my HepC is dormant. Now I'm not sure what to do.I'm glad I found out BEFORE I got to take the meds, but now I'm a little confused. Is there anything I should do?Anything special? Will it ever become active?I'd really like some feedback. Thanks!!!
Guest guest
Hello , Congrats on your recovery and thanks for your post. A doctor telling you the HepC is dormant is scary in my opinion. Did he mean your viral load was undectectable at the time? Meaning under 2000 on the PCR test? Or did he simply read your enzymes the AST & ALT and they were into the normal range? If so just the liver functions being 'normal' is by no means being in a dormant stage. That's great news if your numbers are completely down! Good for you though., but I would use caution and continue your sobriety and continue to keep up a good diet eating more fresh fruits and veggies and no red meat or items high in iron or vitamin A. And most important get your bloodwork done again in 3-6 months just to make sure. I don't wanna be a damp towel here - this very well could be great news for you. Some 15% of the hepC population can and does go into spontaneous remission = 100% hepC clear. So maybe you are one of the very fortunate and very blessed ones. If so good for you! Are you taking any supplements now? Vitamins C & E , Milk Thistle? Are you drinking lots of water? Eating better? Enjoy your weekend! Again, Congrats! Guest guest
Just to add to this.....I have always had normal labs but am stage and grade 3. The pcr tests are using 600 as detectable so you should probably get your records and check it out. I don't want to dampen your spirits either, just want you to have all the information. And yes the diet is Important. Keep well..after all, that's what this is all about. -- Re: my hep c is dormant Hello ,Congrats on your recovery and thanks for your post.A doctor telling you the HepC is dormant is scary in my opinion.Did he mean your viral load was undectectable at the time?Meaning under 2000 on the PCR test?
