Dear Members,Exercise 1: Steps for solution: 1. Data

nature – measurement value

n > 30

Population variance known

2.

Assumption normally distributed population

sample drawn randomly3.

Hypothesis

H0 =

Mean SBP level in the given population is not different from 140 (µ=140)

HA

=Mean population level in the given population is different from 140 (µ≠140)4. Test of significance:"Z-test for single population mean"Regards,Dr. Vijaya Chaudhari.JR-3,Dept. of Pharmacology,Government Medical College, Nagpur. From: Vijaya Chaudhari <vijugmc@...>netrum Sent: Sun, 3 October, 2010 11:13:00 PMSubject: Biostatistics: Exercise 1

Dear Members,Discussions are over now its time to get active as it is a workshop, you have to contribute from your side also. Exercise 1:Suppose a researcher is interested in mean SBP of given population. It is known

that SBP levels are approximately normally distributed with variance 144 mm of

Hg. When researcher took a random sample of 36 individuals the mean SBP was

found to be 145 mm of Hg. Can the researcher conclude that the mean SBP level

in the given population is different from 140 mm of Hg?Scratch your head and suggest me which test can be applied here?Go through the steps. Regards,Dr. Vijaya Chaudhari.JR-3,Dept. of Pharmacology,Government Medical College, Nagpur.
