Guest guest
Lucky me, I know all 3! I was banded by Dr. Oh in 9/03 but wasn't happy with his follow-up care and stingy fills, so I went to Dr. Neal for over a year for follow up. Dr. Neal is a wonderful man, his fill staff is great, and I would recommend him to anyone. I now get my follow up at NWWLS, and I love them, too. One advantage of NWWLS is that their fill nurse comes to Yakima once a month, just to do fills! You're also more than welcome to come to our bandster support group meetings. There happens to be one tomorrow night at VillaSeniors on 6th and Fruitvale at 6:30. They're always the last Wednesday of the month, and there is usually 10 to 14 of us there! Guest guest
I chose NWWLS and my doctor was Dr. son. Go to thelapband.com and you can read about all 3 of the doctors, ie: credentials, past surgical history, etc. I really found this helpfull. Oh, and they treated my like royalty!!! I loved that. Guest guest
For me its a matter of where and with whom I feel most comfortable with. I went with NWWLS and Dr son performed my surgery. I liked the clinic and the fact that all who answer the phone have a lap band and can speak from experience. Also for me its close to home. Dr Oh performed a surgery on someone I know and she loved him. Another thing I considered was cost (I'm self pay) and what I got for the total cost. I think you can also look at obesityhelp.com (I think that's it) and get information on each Dr.statistics. banded 9/21/

Guest guest
Make sure your doctor has done a LOT of procedures. You don't want one that was trained last weekend. You want a good follow-up program. You want to be at ease with the dr. and the office staff. Find out who others like and why. Interview as many as you need to feel comfortable. Congratulations on getting this far! Lenore p.s. Dr. Srikanth did my lap band when he was at the Surgical Weight Loss Center in Tacoma. He is now in Federal Way. I really like him. Guest guest
For me I looked first at credentials, track record, number of surgeries performed, and how comfortable I felt in discussions. Beyond that the biggest question for me was follow up care. I chose Dr Montgomery with NWWLS even though I live in Federal Way where Dr Oh is located. I felt that NWWLS was a better fit for what I wanted to accomplish. I also liked the fact that they concentrate solely on the lapband. There's no chance of miscontruing instructions for bypass rather than lapband. I also liked their commitment to followup care even to the point of guaranteeing their work. Ultimately it's a personal decision. I just went through the same regarding finding a plastic surgeon. I consider myself every lucky to have made good choices in both areas. Guest guest
My wife used Dr.Montgomery and was pleased. She has insurance coverage. I went to Dr. Kuri in Tijuana. He charges $9000. My care was excellent from both the DR. and the Hospital. His staff has called since to check on me. I can't say enough about this posistive expierence. I am using DR. Neal for fills. That to has been a posistive expierence.
Guest guest
I have heard mostly good on all the docs named. Every doc has a patient who didn't do as well as hoped. I personally went to Dr. Montgomery at NWWLS and love him and the whole staff involved in the pre, during, and post surgery after care process. One of my main concerns would be what kind of eating plan is recommended afterwards. I have talked to several bandsters who seem to be on programs more closely structured for bypass patients. They seem to be having more difficulty losing weight than most and seem to be more frustrated. Check what each program recommends in follow up. Also, I have never needed floro for my fills, but have it available at no additional cost if I need it at NWWLS. Are fills extra cost, how much and is the first year free. Is work guaranteed...will they make repairs at no addn cost except for anesthesiologist...how long. How often are fills given. How about unfills? Is nutritional counseling given. Make sure they will give you lots of support later. Ask lots of questions.
