1. Dear Members,

It can be useful to employ stratified

sampling to randomly select subjects from different strata or

groups. Imagine a study designed to examine possible variations in healthcare

between Asian and non-Asian patients. A random sample of patients on a list

would almost certainly produce very few Asian patients, as most localities have

a low proportion of Asian residents. In such a case, we could stratify our

sample by dividing patients into Asian and non-Asian subjects, and then take a

random sample of each. Regards,Dr. Vijaya Chaudhari.JR-3,Dept. of Pharmacology,Government Medical College, Nagpur.
