India-Drug : Abstract submission for case studies- Canadian International

Development Research Corporation

**********************************************************************

Dear IDrug members,

The Canadian International Development Research Corporation (IDRC) under its

Global Health Research Initiative (GHRI) is inviting Case examples to

contribute to a Global Health Research Casebook. GHRI is the research

funding partnership between five Canadian federal agencies and departments

with the mandate of health, research and development assistance. The primary

goal of GHRI is " to improve health and strengthen health systems in low- and

middle- income countries (LMICs) by supporting partnerships between Canadian

and LMIC researchers. " It was launched in 2001 and since then, it has

supported more than 125 research programs in over 60 countries.

Currently, GHRI is seeking Case examples to contribute to its Global Health

Research Casebook. The purpose of this call is to consolidate lessons and

experiences gained through applied global health research partnerships. " This

Casebook will present concrete examples of how Canadian-LMIC research

partnerships have operationalized efforts to reduce health inequities across

a range of themes. This requires a context-specific understanding of the

social, economic and political factors that determine people's health, not

only through their interactions with the health system and other sectors,

but also through their access to a range of resources and opportunities "

Case abstracts should address global health research undertaken in one or

more of the following thematic areas:

.. Strengthening health systems

.. Prevention and control of chronic diseases

.. Health policy and governance

.. Prevention and control of pandemics and/or emerging infectious

diseases

.. Interactions of health, environment and development

.. Emerging issues and trends in global health research

The deadline to submit the case abstracts is 1 August 2010. For more

information, visit the link

Many thanks
