Dear Members, As Dr. Vijay Thawani Sir are busy with his works, he gave the permission to start the new discussion which is scheduled from 10th January to 13 January 2011. So first of all, I thank to Dr Sanjay Choudhari for moderating the discussion on Promotional literature and appreciate the new knowledge which was shared by him. New Discussion: "NEWER ANTICOAGULANTS" The physiological systems that control

blood

fluidity are both complex and elegant. Blood must remain fluid within the

vasculature and yet clot quickly when exposed to nonendothelial surfaces at

sites of vascular injury. When intravascular thrombi do occur, a system of

fibrinolysis is activated to restore fluidity. In the normal situation, a

delicate balance prevents both thrombosis and hemorrhage and allows

physiological fibrinolysis without excess pathological fibrinogenolysis. Due to parenteral administration of Heparin & LMW heparin & unfavorable adverse effects of Warfarin; there is a need of safe, effective newer anticoagulants which can be administered by oral route. Hence, our new discussion is on NEWER ANTICAGULANTS & it will be proceed by following headings:Physiology of coagulation Newer heparinoidsDirect thrombin inhibitorsDirect Factor Xa inhibitorsOther newer agentsRegards,Dr. Vijaya Chaudhari.JR-3,Dept. of Pharmacology,Government Medical College, Nagpur. From: sanjay choudhari <sanjaych7@...>netrum Sent: Mon, 10 January, 2011 12:24:28 PMSubject: Promotional literature (conclusion)

Respected members,Before I conclude, I would like to thank all the members of Netrum and Dr Thawani Sir for their support and their valuable suggestions throughout my discussion on Promotional literature. I hope you enjoyed the disussion and it was informative for all in some way.

Conclusions

Pharmaceutical ads are often

inaccurate, biased, and misleading. They misuse statistics and graphics,

over-state results, and employ fallacious reasoning. They should not be used to guide

clinical decisions.
