Guest guest
Dear members, There are three legal approaches to ethics: - 1) Deontological 2) Utilitarian 3) Casuistry The deontological approach and the utilitarian approach play the biggest role in the debate about pharmacogenomics. The casuist approach is a factor, but the major problem with resolving the ethical issues around this topic involve taking the established principles of Bioethics in all the fields that contribute to pharmacogenomic issues and developing one consistent approach out of them when, on the surface, many of the traditional legal approach conflict with each other. All the information about the legal traditions of the contributing fields comes from casuistry, but deontology and utilitarianism must be used in deciding how to combine this information into one approach or policy directive for pharmacogenomics.
