Guest guest
Janers, I can't answer your questions about what happens after the myotomy because I have not had one. I can tell you that my symptoms first started with the chest pains like your, then came very shortly after, the difficulty in swallowing. As the difficulty in swallowing progressed and it did rather rapidly, I started to lose what I ate and drank. I was losing the food I just ate, not food I had eaten the day before. Some of what I ate had to have been getting through because I only lost 30 lbs in 3 months, but it certainly didn't seem that I was retaining anything. The thing that upset me most was losing the water I drank. I stayed so thirsty. I have always drank a lot of water so I was more thirsty than hungry. As these symptoms got worse the pains eased up somewhat. I had two Botox shots which did not help, then I had a dilatation 8 months ago. Right after the dilatation the chest pains returned for a while but slowly improved. I still have them sometimes but not as bad as they use to be. The dilatation was not that painful for me and I was only uncomfortable for a short time after. As a matter of fact I ate a bowl of chili on the way home. It went down without pain or difficulty. Janers, it will be hard I think for any of us to tell you whether a myotomy will get rid of your pains or not, since we all seem to be somewhat different. This is indeed a very strange disease. It seems we all have the same symptoms, but they don't always follow the same order. This group has helped me a lot in understanding what is happening to me and how to manage the symptoms, but I think each of us has to more or less decide what might be best for us and walk in a bit blind, but with a lot of faith. Good luck and I hope that your test on the 3rd will define things a bit more for you so that your decision will not be as hard to make. My thoughts and prayers remain with all who write here. Guest guest
Magg I thank you for you indepth note to me. I appreciate it a lot. I am just looking to find out what May or may not happen by reading what others say. I am just confused as to how bad symptoms really got. I am finding that every time I eat now, the chest seems to swell up and feel tight again. I am not vomiting but do regurg in my mouth occassionally. I am chewing gum like mad and that does seem to help but don't help the painful jaw very much LOL. My doc will not even try botox since I have been dialated twice. So that option is out. I just wish this pressure would let up. I guess I have to have that faith and wait till those NICE tests are over and we weigh the options. Has anyone ever gone to OSU in Columbus?? Most of you have mentioned UCLA or Cleveland. Let you go and thanks for all that responded. \ thanks again. janers

Guest guest
Hi Ali,I did it in April!I got invitation 1st of March, and studied intensively for a month;before that,I've been reading for a month, but not memorising, and I've menaged to pass. You'll need to read Master dentistry 1 & 2,and pink & bluebook are usefull as well. You should go through feedbacks as they were valuable to me!Try to cover as much as possible, and don't panic; Good luck and try to reduce stress as much as possible! At the end, which you'll see,ORE1 is an exam of intuition and luck, and at the end-knowledge!at least that was my experience:-)all the best,Ana On Mon, Jun 28, 2010 at 10:07 AM, Ali g <aligetaria@...> wrote: Dear friends and colleagues.
