Guest guest
Dear all,I wish to state that:The terms 'Positive' and 'Negative' have little sense by themselves. This depends on how do we want to look at our results. While some of the drug-related researches, conducted anticipating a 'certain' effect of the drug, may be termed 'negative' when that particular 'effect' is not observed, however, the term 'negative' does not have much sense in other fields of medicine, like, for example, physiology. For example, if cholecystokinin does not stimulate gall bladder contraction in the presence of cholelithiasis, can this result be termed 'negative'?http://www.springerlink.com/content/k296674221271384/ We can see many such studies published in good journals. So, it entirely depends on the researcher as to how does he/she view the results.I recently came to know that a journal entirely dedicated for negative results in pharmaceutical sciences has been launched: http://www.pnrjournal.com/Thanks,KishorOn Fri, Sep 24, 2010 at 9:00 AM, anupama sukhlecha <anupama_acad@...> wrote: Dear friends: Welcome to discussion on : " How to deal with negative results? " During the process of research, we start by framing a research question. Now, at the end of our research, we get both positive and negative results. Let us begin our discussion by answering these questtions: -Should we publish only the positive results and neglect the negative results? -Should we publish both positive and negative results? -Will the journals accept our papers containing negative results?
