Guest guest
just curious, for those of you who have had surgery to remove the gall bladder... could you eat anything you wanted to? were there any limitations? do you have to take some kind of medication for the rest of your life to help do what the gall bladder used to do or shall is say it was supposed to do? :-) angela brown
Guest guest
Kathie, You shouldn't NEED anyone. I managed to take care of myself (though I was in the hospital for 4 days because of pneumonia). On the other hand, I have a low pain tolerance (my old karate instructor can verify that) and had I had friends who were able to stop by I might have been tempted to ask them to fix meals for me since I was a little sore. When you have out-patient surgery, they like to have someone check up on you for the first 24 hours. But you'll undoubtably be in the hospital for at least 24 hours. Guest guest
I was in the hospital for three days and had my husband take off a full week. He did this mainly because I was the sole caregiver during the day for our then 18 mo old. I needed help with her more than I needed help with me. Guest guest
Thanks Jeff, That makes me feel much better. I just hate to ask people for anything. I am sorta a independent sort ... although I find myself relying HEAVILY on this terrific group! Thank you, Kathie. > > > > Hi All, > > Can anyone tell me if you need to have someone with you when you > > come home from the hospital for a day or so? Guest guest
Hi Kathie, well, I got back from the hospital only like five hours ago!!! and I'm already sitting next to my desktop (no laptop for me...). I had my lap surgery yesterday morning, and I'm happy to tell you I didn't need any kind of pain relief - neither morphine at hospital, nor even tylenol at home. I'm also the kind of person with a high tolerance to pain. So as long as no-one depends on you on a daily basis, you might be able to deal with it on your own. Be sure to prepare enough food ahead of time (any kind of liquid food, including yougurts, creamy soups, mashed potatoes, smoothies etc.) and you're set. On the other hand, if, for any reason, it is not going to be lap - this might be a completely different story... Guest guest
Is this the same Iris??? You sound wonderful! This is the best news. So, one night in the hospital? Thanks for the update! I am truly delighted for you. Kathie. > > > > Hi All, > > Can anyone tell me if you need to have someone with you when > you > > come home from the hospital for a day or so?
