Guest guest
First, thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers! They are working! I've been praying a lot, too. My mom is still on a ventilator, and lightly sedated, but she is comfortable, and things are looking up for her (though she is still is very sick, so they are warning us things could change in the wrong direction). My mom is improving, her blood counts are better and kidney function is better, heart is fine, etc. The nurse today, thought she saw my look at her, and so she asked her if she was comfortable, and she nodded yes! The nurse then asked her to squeeze her hand, and she could. This is a wonderful, welcomed improvement. ********************************8 I do have a big challenge, though. My sister has the power of attorney for healthcare for my mom. She's been supportive of giving my mom the best care, antibiotics, sepsis drugs, the ventilator, and so forth. However, she is now telling me she wants to terminate my mom's life! She is not willing to go a month or two so that my mom has the chance of fully recovering. This is in spite of the fact that my mom is getting better. I know this is a very difficult problem, and if my mom were terminal, or brain-dead, I would agree. But my mom is getting better, and I cannot understand my sister's reluctance to give my mom every chance. She says mom didn't want to be like Terri Schiavo. I agree! No one wants to linger like Ms. Schiavo. However, if my mom improves to the point of making her own decisions (perhaps not far away), she may chose not to continue, or perhaps to continue. It would be so nice just to be on the same page with my sister, who has been supportive up until now. So... Any suggestions or similar situations that have been resolved would GREATLY be appreciated. Thanks!!! PS Sorry to be 'off the air', so to speak. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Sucker-punch spam with award-winning protection.
